Why Gibraltar's Buff & Wraith's Nerf Are A Good Thing

Since the latest buffs for Gibby, I've started to use it and also see him in matches a bit more. While it's true that, in a 1v1 situation, Gibby has some advantages over other legends, I think most players are missing the big point.

Teamwork got buffed significantly! Players that use Gibby don't usually push alone, they protect their team with the dome, they defend the team position well while the teammates heal, now they also come for the rescue in the open. Miles better than many Wraith mains, that are usually phasing in deep into fights they can't win alone, only to quit immediately after dying or be way too far from the teammates when they need help. Needless to say that most of her portals were used for speed boosts when things went south, turning them into deathtraps for the teammates. It's good to see that, with the latest nerfs, Wraiths push a bit less and use their portals to help the team advance or retreat to safety more often, slowly turning into the team players that Apex needed so much.

@heme725 Yeah I understand the larger hit box and everything means you can be more careless with regards to aiming at him. But because I run into so many wraiths and other legends who are not as big, it does not make a huge difference for me. I'm already used to aiming at smaller legends to begin with.

If the idea is that the Gibi will miss more shots vs a smaller legend.. That in my opinion is not happening at the frequency it's supposed to, at least for me. The gibis I run into don't miss many shots not enough to compensate for the 75 extra health they get from that arm shield. 1vs1 I get melted by the gibi 99% of the time and it's only because of his chest shield. Look at the damage add it up and I've done 250+ damage when you factor in I took out the arm shield.

He's insanely OP in 1vs1 unless you can flank him or snipe head shots.. The idea that you just avoid him, you can't always do that..

@DarthValtrex Gun shield activates only when ADS-ing, and it doesn't activate instantly. It's a trade, if he wants the extra 75, he has to become a sitting duck, but if things go south he turns into an easy pray because his huge hitbox is easy to hipfire upon.

Ive really only had success against gibby by flanking while he is downing a teammate. Head on I die almost every time. Jump pad behind him and light him up, but only if his team isnt there to have their bruddahs back...

@DarthValtrex Because the gun shield was originally part of his kit I assume it was meant to give him an advantage. In a straight up 1v1 fight he should be stronger than other legends so I don't think you're meant to take him on in such a simple fashion. If you pay attention in a fight you'll notice that typical Gibraltars have other bad habits that make it easier to deal with.

A pathfinder that you lose track off will almost always be somewhere high above.

A caustic will often dive a building when available.

A gibraltar will hesitate to rush you down due to not wanting to lose that gun shield.

Its irritating since Gibraltar and Caustic are they only characters that might require unconventional means to fight against but I have no sympathy towards those that foolishly push a Gibby 1v1. Like I have no sympathy for someone that dives a caustic inside a building. You may win but you put yourself in the worst position possible.
