Wraith nerfed again?!
Wraith has a high winrate because most good players use her PERIOD, the balancing that you guys are pushing is based on the fact that you want to GUT the advantages that good players have because th...
@Sand_spitter What?
Legends need to be balanced, nerfed and buffed or the meta will never change.
What is wrong with the meta though?
If they actually design better characters that are able to keep up with the good ones the meta would take care of itself.
You can't balance a battle royal game with so many different variables and abilities and weapons unless you literally make everything the same. Some things will naturally be better, always.
The game was fun the way it was back in the day. I agree with some of the buffs though. Gibby was weak back then, so was Mirage; now both are OP. But they butchered Lifeline, Wraith and Caustic to pieces. Why? Because either noobs had a hard time playing against them or the pro's complained because they couldn't create good content. I'm not a good player, but not once did I ever complain about my opponent's character being better than mine. If I died he was a better player, and I needed to improve my game.
@Sand_spitter"You can't balance a BR" Oh really? I beg to differ.
For starters take Gibi who is one of the "meta" legends. He's "meta" because you have to do 280+ damage to him to kill him if he has purple armor. Some of the guns in the game can't even drop him without a purple Magazine if he has a purple armor. When a legend or guns ability is what's winning fights, not the skill. Then it lacks balance. If gibi has red armor you have to do 308.75 damage to him to kill him. If you're Bang he only has to do 200 to you. the 15% damage reduction + the arm shield = 308 damage. It's ridiculously unbalanced.
Wraith is a good example of it, she's tiny and difficult to shoot. She has some of the highest win percentages both of matches and in fighting. That is why they are nerfing her, they are trying to balance it so that people who play other legends are not at a disadvantage.
Sure all legends will have strengths and weakness and that's okay.
But having some legends that are so OP it allows low skill players to beat medium skill players.. Then that's out of balance.
SBMM has nothing to do with balancing the game. That's entirely different and an entirely different topic.
But still, you're gonna need good movement to outplay anyone regardless of who you pick. Choosing Wraith, the way she was didn't guarantee you anything in the end. She was fun to play at one point but with all her "get out of jail free cards" it still wasn't enough to guarantee success on most days.
I've been outstrafed by Loba's, Octane's, Bangalore's and even Crypto's many times. Too many to even count.
Tiny and difficult to hit shouldn't mean we need to make her weak, it means they shouldn't create new legends the size of trees. And if they do they should have abilities that at least make them fun to play or competitive. The nerfs she got didn't even adress the actual issue.
Bangalore is a nightmare to hit when "double timing it". Should we nerf her too? What about Octane that's running faster than my Caustic? Or Loba with an unfair advantage to steal all the good loot early game?
They messed up with Gibby. He needed a buff but they over did it. Still, I can easily lose to anyone better than me while playing Gibby myself. You can learn how to engage him differently and win, same with any legend.
Meta guns, I'm all for it. Games have always been this way. Quake, Doom, Unreal Tournament etc. You got lucky when you picked up a OP weapon, that's how it is. It actually gave you a chance to win against people better than you, and I see nothing wrong with that. Sometimes it still isn't enough. Same way you get lucky for picking up Purple armour and you're opponent has white. Did the armour win the fight? Most likely.
Skill? Aceu said it himself that battle royale can and should never be an esport. Rng and luck decides who wins way too many times over skill.
