@Cro_PitttWho said the audio is fixed? All I read was that they have addressed some of the issues and frankly did expect the new season to come with more problems, especially since it added a new map and legend to the mix.
I do agree that the audio issues in this update are worse than before. There were a few occasions where I got shot in the back, because the footsteps seemed to come from a different direction. Other times, there were some ghost sounds leading to paranoiac pings, followed by a desire to call Ghost Busters 🙂. Also, there's a bit too much banter at times, covering more important ones.
Anyway, I'm not here to raise my pitchfork. I've noticed some improvements too: there is more depth to some of the sounds, they feel less compressed, while in-game communication seems crisper. But I believe that most of the work went into patching the sound engine and tools, which are not built in house and received many updates in 2020 (http://www.radgametools.com/msshist.htm). Usually, a thing of this sorts is expected to come with new issues, but it's often mandatory to prevent other issues to become game breaking (for example, there could be some memory issues in the older version of the system that would turn to crashes when even more stuff is thrown in). It's going to take a while to smooth the rough edges of this update, so I'll try to cope with these "audio impairments" for the next months/ year.
What I would like Respawn to do is to have a blog similar to technology.riotgames.com, where they explain some of the development processes in more detail. It would greatly help in educating the community and reduce the hate thrown at developers.
All I know is my audio is fine. Unless there is a horizon near me or on my team. Other than that I have no complaints.

@PsyhiX69I use Hyper X Cloud II headphones with Rog Strix b450-f gaming motherboard with its included sound card.
I also have Realtek Audio as well as Sonic Studio which allows further enhances. I can honestly say while my team cant hear footsteps from some distance I can clearly.
When it comes to footsteps though and distance gunfire it's very enhanced for me. I can tell people where I hear some coming from or what range I know the shots are coming from. I have even had randoms accuse me of cheating because I ping a building I can hear footsteps and my team don't. Dunno what folks are using for headsets but this plays a major role with programs designed to enhance sounds to your likings.- PsyhiX695 years agoSeasoned Ace@E9ine_AC I have tried numerous different hardware + software combinations and for all of them I have audio issues (cutting off sounds, or sounds completely silent, no audible footsteps when I am not looking at the enemy etc).
These are the hardware I tried:
Realtek ACL1220, Burson Audio Playmate Vivid, Xonar DX/DX, and some other Realtek on Z270 chipset that I forgot
Software that I used: no software, virtualisation on/off, stereo in game 2.1 or 7.1, razer surround, nahimic, dtx, atmos, voicemeeter + hesuvi.
I have these issues on every combination of hardware and software. Also I saw numerous time on twitch different streamers also have these issues.
I especially like hesuvi as it allows You to set preset You like for sound virtualization.
