Your verdict on S6? Hit or Miss?

HIT

Negatives: I hated the shield change. I was so stoked at getting better over S5 only for most games to be over in a flash at the start of S6. If they hadn't have changed it back I doubt I'd still be playing. Was stoked for Rampart too but after three games I put her away never to be played again. I played 2,000+ games in S6 and was not killed by Sheila once. LTMs aside from A&D and Shadow Royale.

Positives: Volt and easier-to-use Havoc. TT with autochoke. R99 to care package. Crossplay. WE map chages (hope that exploding rocket causes Fragment to sink into the lava). Don't miss Mirage's Voyage at all. More energy ammo. Replicators (aside from armour thieves) were a good addition. A&D and Shadow Royale as I love the Mastive but am not good enough with it in normal play.

AD is up by 60 and K/Dr up by 0.13. I broke my record damage four times (all in the same week, lol).

Looking forwards to S7.

  • @EdwardDLuffy Overall? Miss. More of the same with poorly functioning matchmaking, poor lighting, getting killed behind solid objects or when an enemy isn't on screen and not lagging, poor RNG for loot, and trashy / poorly performing / toxic / no brain teammates.

Towards the end however? A hit. S7's patch notes looked promising, and they actually incorporated ideas that were community suggested. Wraith got nerfed, and weapon usage is pretty mixed since R99 got the CP treatment (though that's never bothered me.).

    Hit for me

I don't particularly fancy Rampart, but the events modes were very fun.

Especially fight or fright. Sigh, gotta wait a year again....

Also, the legend rebalancing was done properly and it feels very much balanced right now

  • Relatively speaking...Hit.

    Highlights for me:

    • Rampart - at first I was skeptical, but really got into playing her.  I don't care if I get many kills with Sheila.  She's so satisfying to fire and watch the panic ensue. lol  I'm fond of the Spitfire and L-Star too so her afinity for LMGs works for me.
    • WE map changes - again skeptical at first, but turned out to be exactly what this map needed.  Much more streamlined areas to loot and more legit points of interest on the map
    • Battle Pass - easily the best battle pass for me since Season 3.  Good music, a lot of cool banners and load screens I liked, great sky dive emotes, great character skins, good weapon skins, and finally a new item...holo sprays!  I think I equipped the most items this season since the Season 2 battle pass.  Most importantly, the items I liked were spread out very well within the pass, with a good number in the front half.
    • Music favorites playlist - finally!  Been wanting this for a while.

The whole shield thing never really bothered me.  I actually liked not having to take quite as long to crack a shield, but I didn't see any real drop in performance when they reverted.  Third party is always going to be the name of the game in Apex as long as they have such an overall high TTK.
