I was in the middle of a ranked match when all of a sudden the game went crazy with lag.
Next thing I know, I'm kicked from the game, given a Out of Sync with Server error, and slapped with -36 RP and a 10 minute penalty.
Why is the game programmed to penalize the player when the servers drop connection?
Oh and I have excellent internet with no issues in other games. Just Apex...

Typically a disconnection isn't caused by the server itself failing.
There are many things that could affect your connection, this could range from using WiFi to the route you're taking to get to the servers.
This might vary between games as they use different datacenters and routes, next to that it could also be an issue that manifests every so often.
Do you get any red icons in the top right?
If so, could you identify it using these images?
Changing datacenters could resolve this issue, so it's recommended to play around with a few datacenters to see if that fixes it.
I saw the UCMD Input Delay and one other icon. Unfortunately I only saw it briefly before being kicked soni didn't get a good look at the other icon.
I've been playing apex for years and have been kicked for multiple different reasons, but this is the first (maybe second) time seeing this error.
Then it's most likely an ongoing issue.
I'm not sure whether or not the team is aware of this, but it seems like this is affecting many users around the globe.
I myself have gotten it here and there, though it's pretty much random... which might indicates that this is an issue that only certain servers receive.
This issue seems like it affects mostly consoles, if you are playing on console then you are in luck, they are investigating this issue for consoles.
As for PC... well I'm not so sure about that, it might take a while until we get confirmation.
Typically I would recommend certain articles that would resolve issues related to network, though this seems like it's pretty much related to their servers.
Otherwise it would be the fault of an ISP, though since many players have been using different ISP's, it seems that it might be related to EA/Respawn's ISP.
As far I'm concerned, all we can do is wait.
Thanks for the insight. This more or less confirms that myself and other players are getting kicked and penalized for problems on EAs end... Really speaks to the quality of their profit first player last mentality... If it was an issue with the apex store, that stuff would be fixed immediately. Meanwhile I've been seeing that symbol since the start of the season and it's now lost me RP and wasted my time. It's stuff like this that pushes me to drop apex the second a suitable BR replacement pops up.
