From what I've seen so far EA do not actually have a way to distinguish whether or not the ban was legitimate. That's why all the appeals get automated replies and why the unbans have been so spontaneous and from people that usually have some kind of direct line of contact with Respawn because Respawn themselves CAN distinguish whether or not is was legitimate. It's incredibly frustrating because Respawn does not have any form of direct contact outside of social medias (if you're lucky enough to catch their attention) and as far as I know do not have any plans to create some kind of direct contact so the people that truly have been falsely banned are more or less just out of luck. We can only pray that this false ban bug is being legitimately considered an issue and worked on behind the scenes because I have yet to see anyone officially recognise it within their team for the entire time it's been present in season 21.
