Apex Legends overall audio too quiet, but gunshots way too loud

loudness equalisation partially fixed this problem for me, but sound effects and dialogue are still way too low

I recently noticed the difference between a WIN 10 install and a WIN 7, so I'm thinking poorly written audio drivers for old hardware.
