Apex Legends won't launch properly

After launching the game I get through Respawn and EA logos to a loading screen and the game just turns off every time.

Everything worked perfectly two or three days ago and this started happening yesterday. I didn't change anything between 2 days ago and yesterday when it started happening out of nowhere.

I don't get any error messages and I don't see any crash reports either. I think crash report should generate itself in Documents folder, but nothing is there after it crashes.

I tried running it as administrator and I tried to disable fullscreen optimization too. I tried adding Apex, EasyAntiCheat and Steam to firewall exceptions, I even tried to completely turn off antivirus and firewall as well. I deleted videoconfig, autoexec and launch commands and also tried capping the game at 60fps through launch command. I deleted and installed Apex through both Steam and EA App multiple times, verified game integrity few times, repaired the game few times, reinstalled EasyAntiCheat. I tried clean boot and turning off other apps. I updated graphics driver, I reset nvidia graphics settings to default, I updated Windows, I even updated ssd driver and scanned it if it's not faulty. I tried looking at event viewer, but only thing I see there is EasyAntiCheat being installed as service successfully and then loading and unloading successfully.

My HW:

MB: MSI B450 TOMAHAWK
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 2600 @ 4GHz
CPU COOLER: SilentiumPC Fera 3 RGB HE1224
RAM: Patriot Viper 4 Series DDR4 16GB(2x8GB) @ 3200MHz CL16 1,35V
GPU: MSI GTX 1060 ARMOR 6G OCV1
SSD1: Samsung 970 EVO PLUS NVMe M.2 500GB
SSD2: Kingston A400 120GB
HDD1: WD Blue 1TB 3,5" 7200RPM
HDD2: Seagate IronWolf 4TB 3,5" 5900RPM
PSU: Seasonic Focus Plus Gold 550W
CASE: SilentiumPC Armis AR3 TG

Anything else I should try ? My last resorts that I don't want to do is clean windows reinstall and deleting my CPU overclock, but I don't really want to do that, I don't have problems with other games or apps or anything really and CPU overclock was checked properly for stability and haven't had a single crash or problem in last two years or so and as I said everything else works properly, it's just Apex for some reason.

  • Okay, so it might have been Eset Antivirus, but I am not sure. When it first started happening I tried to turn antivirus off completely and problem was still there, but I noticed that even if you turn off everything in antivirus there is still one antivirus service running and I just could not disable it. I disabled most of the services I didn't recognize/need and I uninstalled Eset. Now it works again, but let's see for how long...

I'm still using my autoexec, read-only videoconfig and launch commands and I'm still using MSI Afterburner, Rivatuner and performance Nvidia control settings for Apex. I'm just leaving it there to let others know that my problem wasn't related to these things and my cpu overclock was safe too.

  • Same thing here, nothing works.

My game closes at season launch screen.

I'm very veyr very mad. *

  • Hey bro do you have any type of ingame overlay? I have MSI Afterburner overlay and I just closed and the game it's ok.

I think the problem it's related with overlay app.

Yeah, I use MSI Afterburner with Rivatuner to cap fps and show some performance stuff. It fixed itself yesterday somehow. I did not change a thing, so idk why it works now. I still use MSI Afterburner with Rivatuner, didnt even update them or anything.

So yeah, my conclusion is that I don't know what was wrong and I don't know why it suddenly works now, I doubt that's gonna help someone, but your solution with switching off Afterburner overlay is worth a try because I didn't even think about that

  • I figured out after some tests that some changes in Rivatuner do this in APEX, and I don't know why.

But if you just reset all RIvatuner configs, the problem stops.

Started happening again to me. Got rid of my CPU overclock, everything is in auto/default now, I just enabled "Relaxed EDC throttling" and "AMD Cool'n'Quiet" in BIOS. I don't think it was problem even before tbh, but I tried Prime95 stress test with Small FFTs for like 5 minutes with overclock and without overclock and PC doesn't crash, so that really wasn't a problem I think. I tried to update MSI Afterburner and Rivatuner, that didn't help, tried to reset Rivatuner settings, that didn't help either and now I'm not even using MSI Afterburner and Rivatuner anymore and Apex still crashes during loading screen. I tried verifying game files and it showed that one was missing, but it might have been videoconfig I deleted or something and now it said that game files are ok and it still doesn't work. I also scanned and repaired system files using command "sfc /scannow" and it found some stuff and repaired them, running for second time said everything is okay and Apex still crashes.

    Anyone any ideas ?
