Apex (PC) / Whole PC crashes after the last update

After the last update ~2 days ago my entire PC will crash with a black screen and then reboot. This occurs right at the menu loading screen when I load Apex. I was able to play without any problems before the update. I am currently not running any OCs, I have updated all drivers and don't have any crashes in any other games besides Apex. Temps are fine aswell. Also checked my power draw to rule out any PSU related issues.

I've already tried reinstalling the game, the anti cheat, using the steam version (currently on Origin) and following the advice from here https://answers.ea.com/t5/Technical-Issues/Season-7-Zeel-s-in-depth-Troubleshooting-Guide/m-p/8306647#Crashonlaunch

My PC:
AMD Ryzen 7 5800x
RTX 2070
16GB DDR4
Fresh Win 10 Installation

Im wondering if it's related to my new CPU (which was released recently), as I wasn't able to find anyone having similar problems at all. The problem certainly is related to Apex aswell, as the crash is 100% consistent on menu load and doesnt appear in any stress tests I've run or games I've tried.

Check if capping your framerate with a GPU tweaking app such as EVGA PRecision or MSI Afterburner has an effect.

Check your display is connected to your GPU and not the motherboard video output!!

    Hi, thanks for the help.

Capping my framerate with the Nvidia Profile Inspector Globally did indeed fix it as a workaround. If I cap my FPS only for Apex Legends it wont prevent the crashes tho.
I do have V-Sync enabled, so I am kinda wondering why this is necessary. Hope this is fixed in a future update.

  • @EA_BarryWell, looks like it was only a temporary fix. The problem is back again now, even with limiting the FPS. I tried deleting my config files aswell now, even used the files from friend. Still didn't work. Im really clueless why it was working earlier today.

  • What fixed the issue for my new build of Ryzen 5800x and ASUS B550-F (WiFi) was to simply update the old August 2020 BIOS to January 2021 BIOS. All instability INCLUDING SYSTEM CRASH at Apex Legends main menu was fixed. Highly recommend updating your Bios and Chipset from the motherboard manufacturer site for AMD AM4 users.
