Apex wont run using EGPU?

Hello !

I'm having a bit of an issue related to the usage of an external gpu. As in Apex refuses to run on it or cannot detect it.

I have a GTX 1060 6 gb externally connected to my laptop. It's got an i7-8550U CPU, 16 gb RAM and running windows 10.

Every other game I have - Overwatch, rainbow 6 siege, fortnite ect. runs perfectly on it.

For some reason Apex insists on running on the intel graphics on my laptop and therefor (obviously) with a very low setting and 10-20 fps. I even tried to disable my intel graphics driver to force it on my egpu but it still just attempted to run on it and crashed.

I've checked my egpu any way I could think of and like I said it works fine with every other game I have.

Can anyone help me find out why Apex wont run on it?

  • Hi Dizz45,

Like you I too have an eGPU; a Razer Core X w/ a GTX 1050 connected to a Razer Blade Stealth and had the same problem as you. However after some tinkering an a driver update; it worked!

So, what I think you should do is update your drivers to their latest via the Nvidia website, then on the Nvidia control panel just check that your machine is definitely routing display through your graphics card and not the integrated graphics.

If all checks out you should be able to run Apex as expected 🙂

    Hope this helps.
