I may be wrong, but it sounds like you are adding the acceptions to the Avast Scanner, which only skips them over when scanning for viruses.
I'm not very familiar with Avast, but you should be adding the acceptions to the firewall side of things.
https://support.avast.com/en-us/article/Antivirus-Firewall-Application-Rules
You should be adding the executable to the acception list, which should then resolve the issue. It's the firewall that is messing you up, and not the files themselves.
If you don't want to take any risks, you can easily test it but turning avast completely off and play a round or two in game. If the issue doesn't happen, it's definitely the firewall causing the issue.
I'm also getting this same error on other games now, ones that I've been playing for years so I think this is a bigger problem than I originally thought.
I'm currently uploading a crash dump to nvidia so let's see what comes out of that.

Windows firewall has a few issues. Make sure to update to newest windows drivers.
https://support.microsoft.com/en-ca/help/4027667/windows-10-update
You can also try turning windows firewall off and testing to see if that helps any.
You can also try adding the program to windows firewall acception list:
https://www.tomshardware.com/news/how-to-open-firewall-ports-in-windows-10,36451.html (Not sure how old this guide is, but hope it helps. )
If you are using an older version of windows, well I hope EA can help.

Have you tried adding it to windows Firewall acceptions?

It was already added, I assume at the point the game first ran

That's odd. Everyone else who I've ran into with this error was due to their firewall.
I hope EA can help ya quickly.

I changed my GPU last night and managed to play uninterrupted on all my games for over 3 hours.
No crashing at all. So looks like I have a faulty 1080ti ☹️
Fingers crossed for a successful RMA!

When you swapped out your GPU, did you also clean out the old drivers, or just swap the hardware?

Yea I used ddu to clear out the previous one and installed the latest one.

Makes me wonder if that would of worked with the older card as well.
Which would then mean it was a software issue withing an older driver.

Nah, I already tried it. I tried all versions from the most current to about 5 versions back, and it made no difference. Used ddu every time and repeated my tests.
Now on the new card, everything is back the way I was using it before, no underclocking and no tdr reg tweaks.
It's definitely an issue with the card.

While that makes it a tad more confusing, it at least helps narrow down the overall issue. I know now if it's not firewall related, that it's hardware related, and to focus on that side.At least now I can run down a list of hardware/software repair methods.
1] Uninstall and Re-install the graphics card driver
2] Run the Hardware Devices troubleshooter
3] Give access to graphics hardware to applications
4] Disable TDR checker
You don't need to do any of these, just posting it here for others reading the thread. And of course, those steps are just a general trouble shoot.
