Bad Graphics (Xbox Series S)

Hi Apex Legends Community,

I'm reaching out to see if anyone else has experienced or resolved a persistent graphics issue with Apex Legends on Xbox Series S. Despite setting my game to 120 FPS, the graphics quality appears noticeably poor. Initially, I thought this might be due to an Xbox setting, so I performed a factory reset, but the issue persists, which seems to indicate it's specific to Apex Legends.

For context, I’m using an Xbox Series S connected via HDMI to a 240 Hz monitor. I've attached an image that shows the graphic issue I'm encountering. If anyone has suggestions, troubleshooting steps, or similar experiences to share, it would be greatly appreciated! This has been quite frustrating, and any help is welcome.

Thanks so much for any advice or support.

  • @Rudeisbetter ive an xbox 1 S, bit old atm 😃, but I have it set to 1080 to get 120hz and a high speed hdmi cable. The tv can do uhd, but when i turn on the fps in game fortnite and apex it seems to be capped at 60 fps. Drops at the jump in both but moreso in apex.

Whats the rating of your hdmi cable?

How clean are the vents on the xbox. I have a terrier that sheds quite a bit, so much so he had clogged the vents on my laptop nvidia, made a 10 degree temp difference after I noticed it.

    Heat can affect xbox performance.

Is the xbox clear on all sides.

Does the xbox recognise the speed of the monitor correctly?

Any way to check what the monitor is recieving?

Any way to check what the monitor can do?

    How do other games perform?

Going to have to check all this myself now 🙌

Hey, thanks for getting back to me! I tested everything you mentioned, but it still doesn’t seem to solve the problem. The console is relatively new and isn’t used heavily, so it's in good shape. I checked the FPS on my monitor according to the Xbox settings, and it should be running at 120Hz as expected.

I've gone through nearly everything you suggested, but the issue persists. Any other ideas?

@Rudeisbetter  just a few basic questions.

    How much storage have you?

    How much storage is free?

What fps do you actually get in apex?

What fps do you actually get in another game like fortnite?

The series S specs says only "up to 120 fps".

What happens if you set your monitor to 120 fps, or is it automatic?

Yes, I do have that setting enabled and and set to performance, I also have plenty of storage and  space within my Xbox to be able to run apex legends smoothly.

Ive just noticed that your picture has a 105 fps in the top right.

How do other games compare graphics wise with the picture you posted?

Are there any red icons in the top right when you play apex?
