I fixed this! I went into my router's advanced settings and turned on port-triggering (not forwarding). See screens:

Every time i try and play with other players that are on the same WiFi as me, they get kicked from the game and then it says they lost connection. This happens consistently and it needs to be fixed. I never had a problem until the recent update. Makes me not want to even play the game anymore.
