spoke with ea help and they asked that i submit a bug report here, so here goes:

can't login to apex legends. get stuck on login screen with the message, "apex legends requires an ea account to play..." and a register button in the middle. you click the register button, wait for a few seconds, then it just goes back to that same screen (screenshot attached)

i've been playing this game pretty much since launch (on console). i switched over to pc (steam) around season 9 or 10 and i have my ea account properly linked with cross progression selected/enabled

my guess is this happened with the most recent season 24 patch/update since i was able to play just fine a few weeks or so ago

  • UPDATE: was able to login by doing the following:

    - go to the game's properties in steam (from steam library, right click apex legends, then click properties)
    - enable the steam overlay specifically for this game (from general tab in properties window, click the slider button to the right of enable the steam overlay while in-game)
    - launch the game again and complete the two-factor authentication in the pop-up window
    - close the window
    - click continue (now we're back in the lobby)

marking this as a solution here in case this helps anyone else dealing with this same issue

  • @bawblow First off, do NOT give anyone else your login information.

Secondly, did you connect Steam to the same EA Account you had used to connect to your Console Account? Your account progress is linked to your EA Account.

@Midnight9746 lol yeah that was mostly a joke. definitely not giving any of my information away

everything is connected as it should be. i was playing this game on this same account just fine a few weeks ago. i double checked my account on the ea website, and both my steam account and console account show up in the connections

can i bump this in here or is that generally frowned upon? a bit frustrating to not be able to login to apex on steam when it was working just fine 6 months ago

any help would be greatly appreciated
