CLOCK_WATCHDOG_TIMEOUT

Good morning all,

I built my PC back in June 2023 based on QVL and it's been running like a champ until recently. I started having this problem anytime I play Apex Legends and I'm really hoping you can help me out.

  • It’s specifically when I play Apex and ANY OTHER GAME THAT USES EASY ANTICHEAT

  • It always happens within the first 5-10 minutes

  • It always happens twice. On the third time, instead of a BSOD, my game locks up and then unlocks up and then I can play no problem all day.

I’ve done so much research and I am at a complete loss. Aside from buying new hardware, which I definitely don't want to do, I have no clue what to do.

Here are some things I have done:

  • While on W11

    • Reseated GPU

    • Repasted CPU

    • Updated drivers

      • Chipset

      • GPU

      • Audio

    • Uninstalled GPU drivers with DDU and installed the latest

    • Uninstalled/Reinstalled Apex

    • Verified Integrity of game files

    • System Restored prior to issue

    • Reformatted SSD & installed a fresh copy of W10

    • Issue persists on W10 so leads me to believe it's hardware related

    • Reached out to Microsoft Tech Support

      • They mentioned to me this error and I quote, "The CLOCK_WATCHDOG_TIMEOUT bug check has a value of 0x00000101. This bug check indicates that an expected clock interrupt on a secondary processor, in a multi-processor system, wasn't received within the allocated interval. the error relates to a problem between your system and CPU communicating"

      • Essentially was told that Apex Legends is not compatible with W11 and to reach out to game support

      • EA makes it impossible to open a Support case

    • Reached out to EasyAntiCheat Support

      • This is unfortunate because I submitted a case and was told it could take 5-14 days before a response, I then check the contact page the next week and it says they are no longer accepting Support tickets, lmao.

    • Reset CMOS

    • Ensured my PC was not overclocked

      • CPU

      • RAM

    • via CMD Prompt

      • sfc /scannow

      • DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

    •

Ran Windows Memory Diagnostics * No errors or anything were found

  • Scoured the middle earth and beyond looking for a solution

Things I have not tried:

  • Reseated the RAM

  • Tried just one RAM stick in the A2 slot

  • Tried different hardware

    • CPU

    • GPU

    • Motherboard

I have some tech certs so I'm not completely PC illiterate and this is just mind boggling to me. Any help is much appreciated as I would love to resolve this issue.
