the game spellbreak is beta requests more requirement than apex and my (intel core 2 quad q8400) runs the game 60fps and apex with a vice city requirement, I can not run it because my CPU does not have POPCNT. spellbreak is beta and has no errors and can play any CPU and apex is an official game jajajajaja has more error than ubisoft
@AlBrz80 When I was talking to EA support about other problem I asked them if it may be caused becouse I dont have a SSE 4.2 instructions but they said that the game doesnt require SSE4.2 Plus if it was the SSE4.2 problem you would get the messege CPU doesnt support SSE4.2 like i got in nba 2k19. So no its only popcnt problem
Private coders testify that this POPCNT incompatibility is likely a trivial problem, along the lines of simply setting the -arch= to -ax values correctly, instead of something needlessly restrictive, in the compiler options.
After all, several games including -
Black Ops IV Final Fantasy XV Resident Evil 7 Agents of Mayhem
Fortnite Dishonored 2 Mafia 3
EDF Metal Gear Solid V No Man's Sky
PUBG
- have had this issue patched and can now be successfully launched on previously affected machines.
"If minimum set is SSE4.1, after POPCNT fix only Wolfdale chip (Core2duo E7xxx-E8xxx, some Pentiums and Celerons) returns to the game. And K10 and Conroe (Core2 xxxxx) are never fixed."
All the Yorkfield and Harpertown Core 2/Xeon quads would be fine as well re: SSE 4.1, and those are arguably the most popular (and likely the majority of POPCNT affected folks here).
We can add Anthem to the list of games that patched SSE compatibility issues.
Took them two weeks.
Also replying to an ancient question on here:
Can you run Anthem?
Yes, I can
I don't mean to sound negative but there's something I've been thinking that I want you to know.
This thread has been running for almost a full month, the Phenom thread even longer, and this is the best we've got:
To me, this means only one thing: there's an abysmal chance this issue will ever get any attention on EA Answer HQ. If the Community Manager doesn't communicate with the dev team, this board is basically containment, and we're all more or less wasting our time.
I must also admit that all my attempts at drawing attention to the issue at Reddit basically lead to nothing, with people completely ignoring the issue and behaving not unlike the troll kids that plague threads on here. Reddit is THE board to draw attention to general issues, technical issues not so much.
I was not very lucky on Twitter either. There's a few people trying, but it's not enough to draw attention to the issue.
Conclusion:
- EA Answer HQ is likely a lost cause. We're better off using this thread for updates about this issue rather than trying to draw attention.
Stay here to talk between us, but don't expect anything.
- Twitter is a great place to directly communicate with the devs, but the sheer volume of tweets they must receive makes it unlikely that they will notice the few who are trying.
Join Twitter and send a tweet to these people: @EAHelp , @Respawn , @PlayApex , @VinceZampella . Also use this hashtag: #ApexPOPCNT . Be polite, straightforward, link this thread if you think it's a good idea.
- Reddit is the absolute best place to draw attention to this, but we'd need a lot of people to make anything happen there, especially considering the fact that some people love to hate technical support threads.
Join Reddit and search for a recent POPCNT thread. If you can't find one in the last 24-36 hours, make one yourself making sure that there's a "POPCNT" in the title so that it is easily found by people looking for it.
Apex files contain plain string literals only for SSE3, SSSE3 and POPCNT. Obviously: 1. all x86-64 cpus have SSE2; 2. SSE4 is not required for this game. So the question is clear why does this game require unnecessary integer instructions?
