Crossplay friend invites not working!

My son and I are trying to crossplay on Apex -- him on Switch, me on PS4.  We have researched EVERYTHING on this and done ALL we can do.  EA makes it impossible to talk to anyone but the community... thanks alot EA!

What can we do?  We got the PS4 solely for this purpose, and there seems no way to resolve this.  EA has in effect made it impossible for me to get any real support for our issue... extremely frustrating!

Any ideas, good people?  We are at our wits end here...
