Hello
We are having a similar issue. Our son plays Apex on his child account and cross plays with other Xbox one friends with no problem ...but he wants to cross-platform play with friends on PS4 and is unable to. His cross-platform 'enable/disable' button is greyed out.
I'm feeling sad and cross because two separate EA advisors on two separate chats ( back on the 7th and 8th of October) told me it was simply a matter of time and because it was in Beta it was being rolled out slowly and he would get the function. Today, after he's waited patiently, another chatbox advisor has said they can't help and referred me to this thread!
Please can anyone help?
Jill
Hi @jilli1003,
Thank you for the details!
Just to confirm, have you double-checked the Xbox privacy settings on your son's account to make sure that cross-play is enabled there? You can find more info on how to access those settings over at the Microsoft Support website.
Let me know if he's still having trouble playing with his friends on PS4 with cross-play enabled in the Xbox privacy settings. Thanks again!

We had the same problem. We used this thread to try to remedy it, but it didn’t fix it. Once we went in and explored more of the permissions, we found the issue. The photo shows where to look and there were two restrictions for communications outside of Xbox live that we have to allow in order for the cross platform play to work. Hope this helps!

Hello again,
Yes, I have double-checked all the permissions are allowed. He still has the same problem, unfortunately.
Jill - 5 years ago@Starflight001 Thank you. I've just replied to Kent. I followed everything in your link and double-checked. Still the same issue for him, unfortunately.

Thanks for following up!
Can we try out some connectivity troubleshooting to see if this might actually be connection-related? A good place to start off would be with the basic connectivity steps over at the EA Help website. If you're still seeing the same issues after that check out the Xbox-specific steps as well.
Let me know how that goes once you've had the chance to try it out. Thanks again,

I have the exact same issue. Bought an Xbox to play apex with my son but never gets the friend request either from PC or Xbox. We are not using the same accounts and I turned off all security on his account. Still not working. We can both play apex fine and I can play with PC friends, and he can play with Xbox friends, but there is no way to play cross plattform PC to Xbox.
We can play Fortnite cross platform so clearly this is an issue with Apex specifically.

Hi @OldFartThatFart,
Were you able to try running any of the troubleshooting steps from the links in my previous response? Are you still running into the same issues after that?

I can not play with my kids account. Using my own account on xbox gives med the same ea account issue but then a third account can invite both my xbox and pc players.
I have not found ant way possible to connect my sons account even if I delete mine.
My son only have an Xbox account.
I could try connecting another new ea account and point that to a new xbox account for an adult but that would reset my sons progress.

Hi, we are having the grey out issue too. All xbox settings have been triple checked, reinstalled app. Not a child account. Having no luck and can't find where the problem is. Please can you help? Can't play with any friends on nintendo or ps4.

We've seen similar reports of this happening on Nintendo Switch. We've passed it along to the team for a look.

Hes playing on an xbox. Weirdly if he plays on his switch it's not greyed out but he doesn't give him xbox account even though we logged in with the same EA account so he wants to.play on his xbox as it's also better.

Do you mean that both the Nintendo account and Xbox account are connected to the same EA Account?/Kent

As he couldn't play with his friends on the xbox due to the setting being greyed out he downloaded apex legends on his switch to play with them. When we logged in using the same EA account and none of his progress or skins were on the account and he had to start again so it looks like a whole new account.
He wants to play on xbox with his friends so he has all his progress etc and prefers playing on the xbox but can't because of the cross platform setting being greyed out.

I see, thanks for the details. Apex Legends doesn't have any sort of cross-platform progression, so unfortunately none of his progress would carry over to the Switch.
Do you have parental controls set up on your son's Xbox account? If so, have you had the chance to double-check and make sure that cross-play is allowed under the parental controls? If that option is disabled in the Xbox settings it might be why he's not able to play with his friends there.

Hi,
All xbox settings are correct, he plays cross platform on fortnite fine. No parental controls and it's not a child account as its mine. We don't have separate accounts its all one.
Thanks,
Louisa
