dxgi_error_device_hung constantly since fight night

Hello Guys,

I'm aware that there has been a patch recently (14th i think) that was supposed to fix the constant crashing problem eversince the fight night event.

However, my game still keeps crashing (screen freezing followed by either black or white screen and most of the times also the following message: dxgi_error_device_hung the applications device failed due to badly formed command sent by the application. This is an design-time issue that should be investigated and fixed"  ).

Before fight night was introduced the game ran fine and only crashed here and there like once or twice a month maybe (if even).
But eversince this event was launched my game is completely broken, these crashes happen every 5 - 30 minutes, with no pattern or anything.

Sometimes it seems to run perfectly fine for maybe even 50 minutes and then it crashes twice within the next 5 minutes. Reconnecting takes about 2 minutes just to come back to a lost ranked game or pub or whatever. The patch doesn't seem do help (for me at least) at all. Ranked is basically unplayable at this point (i still hop in games with friends sometimes to try and help them reach diamond despite the crashes but it's no fun crashing mid-fight as you can guess). Also, it seems to be worse for me than most of my friends as they crash maybe 1-3 times within a few hours whereas I crash like 1-3 times every single hour or sometimes every single game for most of the evening)

So far I've tried everything, from uninstalling and re-installing the game to updating and/or reinstalling gpu drivers, turning g-sync/Free Sync off/on, etc. etc.  but nothing helps

Do any of you still experience similar problems like me or did the crasing stop for you already?  Any help will be greatly appreciated. (:

The Setup:

Geforce GTX 1070 (8 GB)
AMD Ryzen 5 1600 Six-Core
Ballistix Sport LT 16GB DDR4 RAM

I play on 2k resolution with (low/off settings mostly) on a BenQ XL2730Z

  • @R4TH0S may I know what sort of Antivirus you're using?

I'm currently having the same issues and have been having it ever since I've started playing in Season 7.

    I've tried the following solutions:

    Update Graphics Driver

Roll back graphics driver to older version

    Reinstall graphics driver using DDU

Edit Registry with TdrLevel and TdrDelay

    Lower in game settings

    Underclock gpu and cpu

  • @R4TH0S No I don't think I use G-Sync.

Do you happen to have a system notification in your notification tray saying "r5apex.exe has been denied access to graphics hardware" every time you crash? You might have to open your system tray at the bottom right of your Windows toolbar.

This got me thinking its an anti-virus problem because other users who played Dota 2 or CSGO have this issue too. And given that Apex is a Source-engine based game, I thought there might be a connection.
