Engine Error - Couldn't Initialize Sound

After the legacy update, I receive this error on startup of apex. I am running the game from the EA launcher. Does anyone have suggestions on a fix?

I uninstalled and reinstalled the game. It seems to be working fine now

With the new Season 9 update, I can't launch the game because of an Engine Error.. The message it gives says:

Couldn't initialize sound.

please make sure you have sound playback device that is enables and properly configured.

Failed in: MilesBankGetStatus

Miles output follows:

streaming source audio\ship\general_japanese_patch_1.mstr has incorrect hash - expected fc91e927 file has ebefd1be

I reset my sound settings and I'm not sure what it means by playback device enabled because my headphones are set as my main output device. What do I do?

@PlanetEclipse326 seems like the update corrupted Japanese voice files. try changing voice language or reinstalling the game.

@PlanetEclipse326 just a quick confirmation, did you use EA desktop for updating or installing the game?

Yeah got the exact same issue. Didn't find a solution so far
