I have the same problem since yesterday evening. There was an Apex update, maybe that's the reason?
I tried to install Apex on C: together with windows, updated all drivers including Nvidia (tried 3 different versions) and reinstalled Apex, but nothing changed.
It's interesting that the error only appears in ranked games, not in public or tdm. And also on different maps (Storm Point yesterday and Broken Moon today)
Everytime in the 2nd or 3rd game. 1st ranked game was without any problems until now.
Hopefully Respawn will fix this fast, because this is my best ranked season until now and I would really like to grind more.
I also attached my error message, in case it would help anyone
ive gotten this error 3 times in pubs didn't see this post before i posted mine. But in mine actually happened when i used scan beacons. right at the end of the animation it crashes.

Hey everyone,
Thanks for the posts! This is something the team is aware of and looking into.
In the meantime however, if you're currently running the DX12 version of Apex please try switching back to the DX11 version or changing to a higher model detail as a temporary workaround since we're seeing this predominantly affecting players using the current DX12 beta.
As a reminder, if you're looking to check out the DX12 beta you can do so with the following steps, while swapping back to DX11 would just involve removing these commands.
How to try DX12A graphics card with a minimum DirectX Feature Level of 12_0 is required to launch the game with DX12. To determine your Feature Levels, open the Run dialog (Windows Key+R) and type “dxdiag”. Feature Levels are listed in the Drivers section of the Display tab.
EA App:
-
From “My Collection”, click on the three dots in the upper right corner of the Apex Legends tile and select “View Properties”.
-
Add "-eac_launcher_settings SettingsDX12.json" in the text box under “Advanced Launch Options”.
-
Click “Save” and launch the game normally.
Origin:
-
From “My Game Library”, right click Apex Legends -> Game Properties -> Advanced Launch Options
-
Add "-eac_launcher_settings SettingsDX12.json" to Command line arguments
-
Click “Save” and launch the game normally
Steam
-
From your library, right click Apex Legends, and select Properties.
-
Add "-eac_launcher_settings SettingsDX12.json" to “Launch Options”
-
Close the properties window and launch the game normally

This problem seems unlikely to happen in the shooting range.
but happened in rank everytime in my experience.
- 3 years agosir, it's better to fix this game, don't even tell us to do things that are not clear. I'm very annoyed when playing rank, it always crashes. Please fix the game, don't just give us a code or tell us to go down to Direct11, that doesn't make sense, all we need is for you to fix the bug. that's all, I've repaired 6 times this game is the same

Hey @chyxo5,
Our team is indeed working to get this fixed up. 🙂
The workarounds mentioned earlier are a few steps that may allow those affected to continue playing while the team is working to correct the issue itself, not as a replacement for a fix.
Repairing doesn't seem to have any effect on this particular issue as you've noted, so switching to DX11 or increasing your model detail so it's not using the low settings are two ways to potentially avoid this particular issue while it's being worked on, thanks for hanging in there in the meantime!

Stop posting this, it's not helping in the slightest. After the update you guys pushed out recently this started happening. So I don't think it's model detail I think you guys need a new process for updating things. Everytime you do it causes problems and the game runs like crap on dx11. So I can't play the game and get abandon penalties so please with all due respect. Fix the problem please.
