Engine Error

Hey there. 

Are you still running into that same error when you're trying to update Apex Legends? If so, I'd recommend trying a repair of the game through your Origin Library to see if that helps at all. If something in the installation is corrupted and is preventing the update from applying that may help. 

If you right-click on Apex Legends in your Origin Library you should see a Repair option in the menu that comes up. Let me know if that helps at all.

I am having the same exact issue, tried the repair function, updating drivers, and completely uninstalling/reinstalling the game.  Have you had any luck fixing this?

Would you be able to grab a DxDiag for me so I can take a look? For more info on how to gather up a DxDiag check out the EA Help website.

Would it be possible to give that a shot to see if it helps? If you're able to find the file using the file path in the error you should be able to rename it from there. Try repairing the game after that and let me know if you still run into the same error message.

As of yesterday I have been getting the engine error i attached. First of all when trying to locate this file, can't find it. It says its under C drive, I don't even have the game installed on c drive lol. I have repaired the game, reinstalled it, updated windows and nvidia drivers with no luck. The irony is that I can hop on Battlefront 2  or BF5 with no issues. I have changed install locations to isolate it to a storage drive issue, that didn't work. So until I can get a solution for this bizarre random error I have cancelled my membership effective 1/29/2020. Lets be honest why pay for a product or service that only works half the time. Just 24 hours ago I was able to play with no issues. Nothing had changed in that time frame for it to cause said engine error. Its unacceptable.

I play on an Xbox One X, and I just started getting an error. The error window shows this: Error reading pak file "R:Vassets/promo/dl_pormo_2020_01_07.rpak" -- Error: Short read.

I've tried all of the trouble shooting steps, I've restarted my Xbox One X, I've restarted my internet. I've cleared all my local saved data from my Xbox One X, and I have uninstalled and reinstalled the game. What else am I supposed to do to play Apex Legends? I've paid for battle passes and am unable to use the product I have now paid for.
