Ethernet Connection Not Working On PS4 Apex

I use an Ethernet cable to help my connection with fps games, but about a week ago I stopped being able to connect to Apex games.

When I switch to WiFi I can play fine, but my connection isn’t strong enough to hold a consistent experience. For more context, when I use my Ethernet cable with my ps4 I can play all other online games besides Apex. Something goes wrong when I load into games. It will stay in the loading screen and then give me a timeout error after a minute or so.

Here are the following things I have tried:

Full power cycle with ps4 and router, different Ethernet cables, changed dns settings, unplugged all USB port devices, did a fresh reinstallation of Apex, changed voice to text option in game settings, reset router, and a couple other things I’m having trouble remembering now.

I would really appreciate some help with this, because I love apex and it’s crazy to me that a connection could only be messed up for 1 individual game. It seems like that would be something specific to apex, not my internet.

  • I’ve posted on this forum a couple times over the last week about my problem and haven’t gotten anything back as a solution, any experiencing this or had it fixed before?

My friend had a similar issue with his PS4... I remember him telling me that he had to go into settings for the PS4 console and change the internet connection to Lan/ Cable mode and that worked for him.  Not sure if you have done this yet so just wanted to mention it....

  • Yeah that’s the first thing I do when connecting an Ethernet cable. It connects just fine, and all other games work with the LAN connection active, except for Apex. The game loads and I can sit in the lobby, but once I try to join a game it will sit in the loading screen and give me a timeout error.

@GroovyCarnitas Sorry to hear about your issues with Apex. Have issues with rubberbanding, freezes, & stuttering during game play. It's hard enough as it is without these issues. I want to run e-net too but would have to run a long e cable from router. Well hope you get it worked out cause it's fun when there aren't any isuues during game play...
