Steam seems to be the answer, next to no issues vs origin.
Recently I tried the steam installation but it seems it has similar troubles.
After a steam repair this message appeared:
It was 20.2MB, now I am not sure if it is having trouble with the small silent patches but definitely the error appears after any apex update.
The good news was this time through steam the repair resolved it quickly.

Had my first issue in a couple of weeks using steam.
Load the game one morning and the shader line popped up and got stuck.
Ended the process and ran the steam repair and the game loaded fine, got into a match and pak missing error appeared.
I closed the game again and ran another steam repair and this time it worked no issues.
None of the repairs took longer than a minute or two - no 40GB downloads etc.
same problem i have to delete pak like 12 gb and reinstall it....
