Graphics Settings Stuck on High and Game Freezing

My graphics settings in Apex have been stuck on high for as long as I can remember. If I go into settings, no matter what setting I choose for model detail, it uses the high graphics models. It says I'm using low or medium, but it's actually using high. I've tried scanning and repairing, uninstalling Steam, trying it on Origin/EA, restarting my computer, and nothing worked. And now, my game keeps freezing mid game. I tried scanning and repairing and it said there was one file that failed to validate, but I remember it saying that every other time I tried to scan and repair. I wanted to open a help ticket, but I couldn't find where to submit a help ticket.

  • @MatrixShaman The game freezing may relate to another issue involving DX12 and/or the loss of FPS players have been having since the last update, (which also may be related to DX12, but I'm not sure).

[PC Only] As for your main issue, you could try moving the following folder to your desktop:

    - C:\Users\<Your User>\Saved Games\Respawn\Apex

This folder contains things such as your game's settings, (and even your keybinds if you had changed them). Although, (at least in mine), there are other files there as well, so once you move this folder to your desktop, I would then repair the game's files again to restore any "missing" file there may be, (and that should also regenerate the game settings file as well).

Note: There shouldn't be any file that fails to validate, as that file could be the problem you're having. You may also need to repair your system's files, which how to do is detailed below:

    Repairing your system's files:

    Spoiler
    - Open the Command Prompt in administrator mode

    - Type, "DISM /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth" (without the quotes), and wait for it to finish.

Note: DISM stands for "Deployment Image Servicing and Management tool". It often repairs Microsoft related files, such as issues with Window apps. Some problems with the next file checker can only be fixed after running this one first.

    - Now type, "sfc /scannow" (without the quotes), and wait for it to finish.

Note: sfc stands for "System File Checker". This one will repair system files, (such as important Windows drivers).

    - Lastly, restart your PC.

If you still wish to contact EA Support, you can try this instead.

Have the CFG file been removed completely from users PC? I used to be able to access it to change my graphic so it starts on the lowest because Apex keeps resetting it to max (its an Apex issue, not my firewall or antivirus) and now I have to spend 10 minutes resetting all my settings before playing. If it has been removed, WHY?! and if not, where can I find it

@Smurfzzay You should be able to find it here:

    - C:\Users\<Your User>\Saved Games\Respawn\Apex\local

Then, it would be the "videoconfig.txt" file.
