Higher fps is causing high ping and router to turn off

My ping is way higher when my game is running at higher fps. i just built a new computer and capped my game at 280 and 300fps, and every time i try to play im getting 170 - 300 ping constantly with really inconsistent peaks. however when i cap my game at anything 200fps or lower, im getting a consistent 40 - 70 ping with almost no issues at all. ive went into the resource monitor on windows and my computer is sending almost twice the amount of bits on 300fps as it is when im on 200 fps. and in some cases on 300fps, itll keep sending more and more bits per second until my entire router overloads and turns off for a bit and comes back on. ive tried reinstalling the game and reinstalling steam, restarting the router. all with the same outcome
