How do I turn off the in-game chat?

How do I turn off the in-game chat? I don't want to see the nonsense people are writing.

baltas_LT You can turn off the in-game chat by going to the in-game settings -> gameplay -> privacy, and then changing the "auto mute communication" setting:

baltas_LT I've had the issue where some players weren't automatically muted, (which I had noticed this happening when they were manually unmuted by me at any point before in the past), and the solution I found was to manually remute these players and the setting kept them muted the next time I had them as teammates.

If that solution isn't working for you, then I'll forward this issue as a bug as players should be getting automatically muted.

My settings are set up that way, yet I can still see what people are writing. Are there any legitimate console commands? Whenever I search online for console codes, I only get results for illicit cheats. Also, could the developers make these things easier for users to understand? The "cut off all communications" option from a few seasons ago was far too confusing and rather philosophical. A simple "chat on/off" toggle would be much clearer.
