Inconsistent PC Frame Drops

On occasion (1 in 5 games or so) when I load into a Battle Royal game, I will have extremely reduced FPS. Typically, I will have roughly 40 FPS when in the drop ship, and then by the time I land I have about 90 FPS. When this glitch is happening, however, I will have maybe 5-10 FPS while in the drop ship and then about 20 FPS on the ground. After maybe 5 minutes, the FPS stabilizes back to my typical values. As far as I am aware, there is no way to replicate this glitch. This glitch tends to happen more frequently and with greater intensity on the Olympus map, but can occur on the World's Edge map as well. I'm playing on steam, and have already verified my game files. Any help would be appreciated.

My specs are:

Processor AMD Ryzen 5 3600 6-Core Processor, 3600 Mhz, 6 Core(s), 12 Logical Processor(s)

BaseBoard Product B450 TOMAHAWK MAX (MS-7C02)

GPU NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER

RAM 16 GB DDR4 DRAM 3200 MHZ

    Thank you!

If possible, can you try rolling back to an earlier NVIDIA driver to see if that helps? I've seen some cases in the past where using older drivers can make a difference with FPS drops like this. If you're able to give that a shot please let me know how it goes. Thanks again.

If you haven't already, can you try starting up your PC in a Clean Boot to see if that makes a difference? That way if the FPS drops are happening because of something running in the background we might be able to get around it.

You can find more details on how to set up a clean boot at the EA Help website. Let me know how that goes when you've had the chance to give it a try. Thanks!

  • @EA_Kent Unfortunately it does not make a difference, I played a few games trying the clean boot and I would still get FPS drops randomly.

Thanks for giving it a shot!

When you have the chance can you share a DxDiag so we can take a look? You can find more information on how to pull one up over at the EA Help website. Once you have the text file please attach it to this thread.

    Thanks again,

  • I also have the same problem, it started two weeks ago and I've tried everything, from formatting my pc to using older drivers, but there's still no change.
