Are you sure that notification was telling you that your account was merged? This sounds like the general pop-up from the start of a new season that lets you know what's new, and just informs people Cross Progression has arrived.
Cross Progression is rolling out in waves, so until you see the notification stating your account has been merged, that hasn't taken effect for your account.
With that said, both you and @BlackMichelinMan have mentioned unlinking accounts. This will cause a loss in progress.

This was done preemptively to try to avoid linking issues. Its not that I loss progress, Nothing is accessible either, legends, the store, skins etc. Its simply an error that has taken away game function.

So what i am hearing is that since i unlinked my PSN account to another EA account it won't transfer cosmetic items or items i earned on my PSN over to my new EA account?
Cause i read the A&Q for it and i am confused a bit. Are the content i had on my PSN just gone forever then? will i ever be able to get it back? if so how. I can't unlink then relink back to the old EA account cause since i linked my PSN today i have to wait till the 5th month of next year. Did i end up wasting my time?- 2 years ago

Yea you can ea can manually do it cause I was going through this exact issue and they unlinked it for me a big hassle replying back and forward but they did it

And this is the old account the i created when i first started apex
the other two accounts are mine as well but the ones that i unlinked and linked to another account was this one and @ZooreHD
So this one i am messaging you on is the original apex account that EA made me create and that i played on till season 15 (the account that i unlinked my PSN from)
And @ZooreHD is the account that i created a while ago but just now linked the PSN account too after. Which i ended up losing my cosmetics and i ended up losing access to my loadout, legends, store, battlepass. and i can't unlink and relink back to the original EA account because it is saying that i have to wait till May 2024 to do so. So have i lost everything? and if not how do i gain those stuff back? Please let me know as soon as possible. (Fyi i did not get the cross progression yet but i was preparing for it with doing this and i am now scared i lost all my work.)
And i read the Q&A And i found no answers there besides relinking which i already said i can't do that till May 2024. Maybe there is some way to revert linking or maybe they can let me unlink it and put it back to the original? I don't know i just don't want to lose my stuff.- EA_Mako2 years ago

Progress cannot be transferred between EA accounts, as you noted from the FAQ here.
When you unlinked, you've lost that progress as a result, as is called out in the warning that appears before you're able to unlink an account.
If you're looking to restore that progress you would need to re-link your PSN to the original account. As you don't currently have the option to do so, you can reach out to support directly so they can assist further.
If you create a new case here and select Game Support > The EA app > I want to update my EA Account information, you should be able to get in touch with the support team so they can take a look.- 2 years ago

Thank you i was able to get in touch and got my PSN linked back to my old/original EA account
but it is still showing the same stuff like can't access loadout and stuff but i heard i just had to wait if that is true how long do you think i would have to wait.
if not then what do i do now?
