Linux players getting banned
Edit: Looks like they fixed the issue causing the bans. Edit 2: EA is reversing bans and sending out emails letting you know. Yay! Hello, I believe myself and a few others got banned for just playi...
I received a ban on July 20, my appeal was rejected for these reasons
You break our rules(https://www.ea.com/terms-of-service#section6) if you:
• use software that interferes with or disrupts an EA Service or another user’s account.
• use undocumented features, exploits or cheats in-game that disrupts an EA Service or another user’s account.
• use software or cheats that disconnects other users from the EA servers.
I used Arch Linux with Proton GE, gamemode, mangohud, obs-vkcapture. Steam launch options are as follows:
DXVK_HUD=compiler WINE_FULLSCREEN_FSR=1 WINE_FULLSCREEN_FSR_STRENGTH=1 obs-gamecapture mangohud gamemoderun %command% +miles_language english -dev -preload -threads 12 -forcenovsync -fullscreen +cl_ragdoll_collide 0 +exec AnZiXBind.cfg
Played 80 hours in Origin + 500 on Steam, did not donate, BUT I really appreciate my time.
I've never cheated, and I haven't broken any rules. This is unfair to us Linux users. EA Support please re-consider this decision.
I wonder if it was some action in-game that triggered these bans, since the one difference between me (banned) and a friend with similar hardware and arch install (no ban) was that I played one or two games of ranked, and he played none. I played for about 40 more hours than him too though (74.8 hours total before ban, we were both new to the game).
Another weird thing is that I have been able to play on an alt just fine ever since the ban on my first account. Supposedly that means I haven't been hardware ID banned (or their HWID bans are equally broken as their anti-cheat) which might mean that the ban for cheating I got was somehow different to most cheating bans.
Personally, even though I can play the game through an alt, I am still worried that this ban will ruin my main steam account if the devs ever decide to push game-developer bans to every steam account linked to a banned EA account. And no, you can't un-link your steam account after you get banned. I was thinking of deleting my EA account entirely to protect myself (if they even let you) but I also want to keep my forum messages here up.
If anyone here has a method which might protect our steam accounts from this hypothetical scenario, please share, and best of luck to everyone new to the thread in getting their bans removed.
