Max at 1080p. No 1440p

I am trying to adjust the settings to 1440p and my max option is native 1080p. I can see that other people state they can play at 1440p and I don't understand why I am not given the option to go higher. I have a GTX 1070 and run other games at 1440p just fine. I also cannot open the game on my 1440p monitor on start up. it goes to my 1080p monitor. I have only seen one other person have this issue on reddit. HELP please!
