Micro-Stutter after first few games on Apex Legends

The PC is 3070 with 5600x and 16gb 3600hz cl18 memory. After about 3 to 5 games micro stutter gets so much worse. I use Riva for locking the FPS to 179 and discarded the graphics memory oc which seems to help a little.

These are the 3d settings. FOV at 110 with adaptive V-Sync on, Nvidia Reflex on and boosted, texture streaming budget at very high(6gb). I ran it as administrator at high performance power plan.

I would like to know what is causing the micro stutter because it feels like I'm playing the game at 40 fps with bullets going through people. I was a pred by the way maybe go for it again if this can be solved.

  • If You want to use g-sync (and I think You should) You need to enable vsync in nvidia panel and disable vsync in game.

Your fps should be locked to -3 (below monitor refresh rate) in my case it's 141fps (because I have 144hz monitor).

I am using RivaTuner for locking fps also. When I had nvidia card I found that reflex added stuttering so I did not use that at all.

You can also add "-preload" to command line in steam/origin so maybe that will help further.

More about g-sync settings here: https://blurbusters.com/gsync/gsync101-input-lag-tests-and-settings/14

I have found that nvidia fps limiter and in-game limiter also add stuttering only RTSS smooths it out (not always tho, at the beginning of the match there is always stuttering for few seconds).

Overall if properly configured You should see something like this (flat line in MSI Afterburner for fps): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_5BSSUIObzg

Please note that this video was recorded with AMD card not Nvidia.

You can lock fps to any value You like then. Try 140 for starters and see if that helps.
