I just downloaded (and re-download trying to fix this issue) Apex for the first time. My ps4 on screen keyboard won't come up when I try to search for a friend.
Also, my Xbox friend cannot find me either. We both have cross platform enabled.

For issue with the on screen keyboard, can you try the following?
Yes, both of us have checked our settings and she still cannot find me. Neither can another xbox friend.
Also, I cleared my cache and the onscreen keyboard still will not come up.
