Re: Apex Account Reset to Level 1

@zKoyza

What platform are you playing on?

Also, did you unlink any of your platform accounts (e.g. PSN, Xbox, Steam) from your EA account?

Unlinking can result in data loss, relinking the previously unlinked account back to it's original EA account could bring the lost data back.

    I unlinked my steam platform from its original EA account to link it to the same EA account as my console account, knowing that cross progression is coming out soon. Did I really just lose everything on my steam account because of this?

    Hey @zKoyza,

    Your progress is stored on the EA account where it was initially earned, so unlinking another platform from your EA account will result in a loss of progress, yes.

    This is mentioned in the unlinking article here, as well as the warning pop-up when going through the actual unlinking process.

    If you still have access to the account where you unlinked your Steam, you can try re-linking it to the original account to restore that progress, as I'm afraid it's not possible to merge progress across two separate EA accounts.

  • So over $100 spent, an heirloom, badges, skins, and all of my currency cannot be merged with my Xbox account because they were linked to different EA accounts (when no details on cross-progression were available, so no one knew how it would work). I imagine many people like myself had no idea linking their console and steam accounts to the same EA account mattered at all, considering cross-progression was not out. I didn't even know I could link my steam account to the same EA account as my console account until recently. I was looking forward to coming back to Apex after hearing about cross-progression, however now I'm just even more disappointed. Looks like I'll just continue moving on with my life. Nice cross-progression implementation.

    Keep in mind that the implementation of cross progression for almost every game works like this.

    It only allows cross progression between platforms for the same account, not for different accounts.

    If it were possible to merge EA accounts then this could open up some serious exploits, hence why this most likely isn't possible to do.

  • So will I at least get my console account merged to my now level 1 steam account?

    Hi @zKoyza,

    Yes, you'll be able to access your Xbox content with that Steam account since it's now on the same EA account. The Steam account just won't bring over any content from its previous EA account.

    Once the Cross Progression migration takes place for your account, all the non-platform-exclusive content you have on that EA account will be accessible by any other platforms you have connected to that same account now or in the future, including your Xbox and Steam platforms.
  • Alright. I really hope there will be a way to merge EA accounts or somehow transfer the progress another way in the future.
