Re: Apex Legends Stuttering after latest update

I have an RTX 3070 And Went through this same stutter issues My forum post is here.  https://answers.ea.com/t5/Technical-Issues/Visual-Glitches-and-Stuttering-in-game/m-p/9870492#M92515

I recommend using a DDU to do a clean install of the newest nvidia drivers.

"Lets try a config change:

  • navigate to C:\Users\*username*\Saved Games\Respawn\Apex\local
  • copy the videoconfig.txt to your desktop (so that you have backed up your settings and can restore them later if necessary)
  • open the videoconfig.txt in C:\Users\*username*\Saved Games\Respawn\Apex\local
  • delete all
  • now copy and past this:
"VideoConfig"
{
"setting.cl_gib_allow" "0"
"setting.cl_particle_fallback_base" "-999999"
"setting.cl_particle_fallback_multiplier" "-999999"

"setting.dvs_supersample_enable" "0"
"setting.gamma" "1.000000"
"setting.configversion" "7"
"setting.modeldecals_forceAllowed" "-1"
}

  • save the videoconfig.txt
  • right click on it, read only

Play apex, and tell me if it's better." -sick1click

Sick1click found this solution for me.  Apex no longer stuttered for me after this.  Although the video quality was poor.  I found In game I could turn the texture stream budgeting to medium and texture filtering to 2x. and I wouldn't stutter and the game graphics looked better but i wouldn't do that until you try it on those settings.

Reflex is 100% the issue for me. I turned it off and it is smooth af. I have a 240 hz so I'm running into a separate issue now with stuttering when going above and below 180'ish fps.

@CARLS_CAR_LOL How did you turn it off? as far as I know there is still an NVIDIA bug that prevents you from disabling it even when you do the command.

I turned that off and I still get the random micro stutter once/twice a game.Sometimes I get nothing in a game. Makes no sense as I could be in a heavy fire fight and 0 hitches then I could be randomly running around and it happens.

Got a picture of it on a frametimegraph up too with latencymon just as an added measure.

I have the same issue, random stutters few times in a game, did you find a fix ? The first graph are my fps and the second are the frametimes. It's over a full game perriod. (2080/8700k)

Jesus christ. Not just the big spikes but the frametime on the lower end too.Your game must not look as smooth as it can be when looking around with the camera with such erratic frametime.

I'm such a spaz I would even notice  the smaller spikes too.

It's partly because of Nvidia and their garbage feature called "reflex" which was introduced on drivers over 452.06

    https://www.reddit.com/r/nvidia/comments/o5mpjs/game_ready_driver_47111_faqdiscussion/h4831ai?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3

    Been an issue for ages.

If you're capable of going to a driver below 452.06 you will notice a frametime improvement and smoother camera pan.I'm on a 3080 so I can't do that.

    Hello everybody,

after trying so many things I finally found the solution to fix my stuttering problems. After I deactivated IPv6 I had no more problems.

    1. Close Apex.

    2. Go to control panel -> Network Settings -> Adapter Configuration. I'm german so I'm not sure if the translation is right. This is the path in german:

    Systemsteuerung\Netzwerk und Internet\Netzwerkverbindungen

    3. Rightclick on the Adapter of your Internet Connection (mine is called "Ethernet") and deactivate "Internet Protocol, Version 6 (TCP/IPv6)".

    Snapshot in attachements

I hope that helps most of you. Please let me know if it helped you :-)
