Re: Cross Progression Deleted My Progress

Hi @KiritoSlayer38

For more information on how linking and unlinking works please check out our help articles:

Also please bear in mind if you try to later unlink your Steam account to link it to the PSN's original EA account you would lose any progress you've made on the PC side of things.

For more information on cross-progression check out our posts:

Cheers,

  • @EA_Illium For the key detail though, would my steam account get the progress that was on the Xbox accounts original EA account? I'm 100% ok with losing my steam progress as long as I can get my Xbox progress back. I know how to unlink and relink it but I only want to go through with it if I can get my progress back from my console account. I'm just worried that if I unlink my steam account and link it to the account my Xbox account was originally linked to I won't get the progress and will instead be level 1. Thanks a ton for the response in advance !

    HI @KiritoSlayer38

To confirm, EA accounts (or the content on them) cannot be merged.

If you decided to wait for the "cool down" period to relink your Xbox back to its original EA account to attempt to restore progress. After that is done you could unlink your Steam account from its EA account (but please bear in mind any items or progress won't come with you) to use it for Cross-Progression with your Xbox account and items/progress.

From here what you would want to decide is either:

    1. Keeping everything on the current account, and using the progress from Steam....
    2. OR, unlinking the Xbox account > Link it back to its original EA account > Unlink Steam from its EA account > Link Steam to the EA account tied to Xbox.

If you decide to relink the Xbox first (to attempt to restore progress), then decide to link Steam to the EA account Xbox is tied to. I would first recommend working on relinking Xbox, verifying your progress is restored, and then linking Steam.

Here is a visual aid to show how the accounts are:

    Spoiler

    Cheers!

  • @EA_Illium So if I were to unlink my steam account, link it to the console's original EA account, it would not keep the progress. However, if I wait another 4-5 months to unlink my xbox account the progress may be recoverable and then I can unlink and move my steam account to it as well. Am I correct in assuming that moving the steam account while the xbox account is still locked to this account it would not restore the progress? I just want my console progress since there's hundreds of dollars worth of purchases and hundreds of hours of progress while my steam account has less than 100 hours and no money spent so I'm willing to completely lose it, but if I need to wait to restore my console progress first then I guess I can stop playing EA games for a year or whatever until I can move the account

    Hi @KiritoSlayer38

Correct, What you want to focus on after the waiting period is relinking the Xbox back to its original account to attempt to restore progress.

Once this is done and you can check if your progress and items are restored, then if you want to move the Steam account from its original EA account to the one connected to Xbox you can decide to do so.

However, its progress won't move over to the account.

    Cheers,

  • Why wasn’t this information front and center when Cross Progression came out? Finally was able to link my Xbox and PSN accounts to EA only to find my 270+ levels had been erased on my main PSN. This is the only game I've seen do this when implementing cross-progression and now I’m waiting months to even attempt to get my stuff back? Not all accounts are easily accessible, I needed to remove my PSN from my original PlayStation EA account because my email was hacked months ago and I obviously can’t access that email to get the security code needed to remove it and even if I did, my only other email was already linked to my Xbox EA account before cross progression so it said “already connected to another EA account”  So my only options are used cross-progression and lose my stuff or make a whole new EA account for my PSN and still lose my items? After reading more, I lost my stuff because I missed a deadline in October?! This has gotten even more ridiculous, I guess I'll return to Overwatch where I'm not held to some ridiculous deadline to merge accounts.

100% not only that, any post you make about this on reddit gets deleted straight away. you are not the only one. ill say the did this to around 300.000 people me included, and we all need to just stop playing and let happen the same what happen to. "the cycle frontier" & "the day before" show them how spiteful we can actually be.

  • It's a relief knowing I'm not the only one annoyed about this; billion-dollar company, a billion-dollar game, that puts a deadline to merge your accounts for security? That's the silliest thing I've heard all year. Let's take some of those funds and improve the security, or maybe develop a cross-progression system that doesn't punish players for a mistake. My Epic Games accounts merge with no issue, battle.net for overwatch? merged seamlessly, Hell, my 2 Ubisoft accounts for R6 merged AUTOMATICALLY. EA seems driven to lose their player base to other games; by taking their players' loot, money, and time spent, then telling them "Sorry, you have to wait 6 months to even attempt to get that back" was the perfect way to do it as we can see by the player count.
