Doesn't appear to be the case -- still happening, for me at least.

Everyone. I've found the fix for this. I've had this issue myself, sometimes once every 15 minutes, somtimes I could play for hours. But after this fix I've had 0 crashes in 3 days of playing, and I play a lot..

It's actually caused by a missing registry key that can sometimes be missing in the NVIDIA drivers. You can manually add it by doing following these steps:

    1. Open a empty notepad file

    2. Write this code inside:
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\GraphicsDrivers]
    "TdrDelay"=hex(b):08,00,00,00,00,00,00,00

    3. Save it with with any name and on the option "Save as type:" select -> "All Files (*.*)" and end the file with .reg
    Example filename: 'apexfix.reg'

    4. Save it on your desktop or anywhere on your computer.

    5. Run it and chose "yes" in the message prompt.

    6. Restart your computer for the registry key to be applied.

    7. Start origin WITH admin privileges. (right click -> Run as administrator)

    8. Run the game, enjoy.

It's not a missing registry entry. The entry you're adding  doesn't actually address the issue. It gives the driver a long timer to respond, at the risk it freezes your entire system while it waits on the device.

It still doesn't solve the problem that something in the latest Nvidia drivers is causing the driver to hang -- which will happen regardless of this fix or not. The difference is, when it hangs with registry changes, there's a chance the game recovers in enough time before your system goes down.

@EudiphonYea well, I was just paraphrasing what I was told, well I still haven't had a single crash since I did this, so why not. The game is obviously unstable without the delay.

Although, I still might think I'm right, but you're just twisting my argument. The key is still missing in the latest nvidia drivers to be able to run the game in a stable matter. This registry key existed in older Nvidia drivers, and you can get the same result by rolling back your current drivers. But this works as a workaround. Have you even tried it?

The issue is probably there for a lot of players, but people using the old drivers doesn't get the crashes due to the explanation you just provided. The issue is probably in the game code and need to be debugged to see what's causing the different exceptions.

The TDR delay is not related to Nvidia. It's a windows registry setting for device drivers. If a driver hangs and fails to respond, on any device, it'll just restart the device since the system is waiting on the device to continue for an application that's running.

  • Hello to Everyone. I have the same problem and the game is always crashing for me. After season 4 i am constantly crashing every 2-3 games.I had to press W+TAB to see either 0x887A006 or 0x887A005 error.

I did something yesterday night and i haven't crash since, dont know if it's a coinsidence. Have tried before every possible solution i could find here, reddit Etc, including formatting 2 times etc etc.

So, what i did yesterday ? I thought how come these streamers not crash ? And i found someone launching the game with the following commands :

First of all, at origin right click Apex Legends - game properties - advanced launch options and i added the following :

+exec autoexec -refresh 240 -console - preload -forcenovsync -high

Notice here after refresh you should enter your monitor's refresh rate - mine is 240 , and also you have to make an Autoexec file for the first command to apply. Plenty of How-To make

Autoexec.cfg on internet, i will only type what i have in the Autoexec :

    mat_compressedtextures 1
    cl_ragdoll_collide 0
    fps_max 0
    cl_forcepreload 1

So that's all i did and the game feels very smooth, i havent had a single crash and specially at Firing range which i could not play even 5 minutes before.... Could you try this too and see if it works ? I noticed the fps are not so stable, many ups and downs, BUT the game is really very very smooth since.

    My rig is 9900k - 5.0ghz / 1.290v (notice here that i have AVX Offset 0) - 2080ti - Gigabyte Aorus Master / M.2 / 16Gb Ram @3600

Hope i dont crash again and this could help the community too.

I'll try that dude. I hope this works because this issue starts pissing me off ☹️

I'll be back soon, or I hope not.

  • Okay, after 15 min, im back. No.. Thats not the solution. I tried everything and I still have the issue.

Restore video drivers (uninstall, clean, and re-install), also restore BIOS by default (worked for 1 day), and other ways to try it, but nothing works...

This issue is pissing me off a lot, it should be solved after last nvidia patch (442.50), but its not... Actually, starts appearing after that patch. But I think that was just a coincidence.

    Help please

  • I'm sorry to hear that man, i have not a single crash for a week+ so now, the only things i changed is what i did at my last post, i did some windows updates, disabled EVERYTHING in origin and i changed my Arctis pro headset to Earbuds. I changed nothing else. Maybe i just got lucky i suppose.
