Re: [Help!] Consistent Packet Loss (Intermittent)

@Enlight369 I'm not an expert but just a few things to try:

Have you changed apex servers to see if the issue is the same?

I use ookla to check my speeds.

Have you put the video load eg nvidia onto the gpu?

Is there anything downloading in the background? Task manager would let you see.

Have you tried reducing the graphic to 1080 from uhd and the htz to 120.

Have you run a full system virus scan.

Have you contacted your isp to see if they are having issues.

My son's pc was running it's cpu at 100%, I had just updated him to w11. The bloatware and the unnecessary services running took me hours to get rid of and stop. Do this at your own risk. Your temp fix might indicate the issue is local.

I have a very good Internet speed at the moment, but was getting red icons in game on Friday night London server, but it's not as constant as you describe.

@Enlight369 you have your drive full. There's just about 10% free space.

An issue I ran into with youngtree's pc, was that he was filling his dell sd up. He only has a small sd drive for system stuff and a 1T HD for data. If you are running everything on 1 HD, then fragmentation can also be a problem.

As your drive is over 75% full, these are simple  things I would  do:

Get a seperate drive for other stuff. Main drive for windows and games, programs only.

I moved the windows system page filing to a seperate small drive 100 gig.

Nvidia cashe dumps can be enormous, esp the DX cashe. I just delete all but the most recent every now and then.

    Users/name/appdata/local/nvidia

Ccleaner for cleaning up the drive and registry (free)

    https://www.ccleaner.com/ccleaner

Windows disk cleanup to get rid of old Windows update files.

To defragment (only for HD not for sd drives) defraggler. Defragmenting can really speed things up, esp if you have been doing a lot of games dl and delete, rince repeat.

I defrag files only monthly then complete defrag of drive every 4 months or so. (free)

    https://www.ccleaner.com/defraggler

Also system/storage can show more categories, can show you where things are clogging the drive. Esp apps and features. A real culprit here for us was the clip champ app (save anything you need here and reset the app to get rid of bloat) and old windows installation files.

Restore points might also be taking up unnecessary space.

Another issue was: in a windows update my son's pc HD was reset to sleep after 20 min, crashing apex consistantly. I put it back as I previously had it to never sleep and all was well.

Temperature may be another issue. I use Speccy to keep an eye on my laptop temp, windows 10 dosnt give that specific info. It's free too

    https://www.ccleaner.com/speccy

If temp is an issue clean the fans and make sure there's plenty of ventilation.

See what's starting at startup and reduce it down to only what's necessary.

I appreciate the response, and I did end up clearing up space on my hard drive, thank you for the recommendation.

I have tried many apex servers, the packet loss applies to all of them. And will strangely recommend me to 300 ping servers because the packet loss is so bad on all local near by servers.

graphics have nothing to do with network packet loss. I am ok with my current setup (12900K i9 & RTX 3090)

As previously mentioned, I have contacted the ISP, and they say everything is good on their end. They even had techs come out testing the coaxial

@xEnlightx if its not you isp and all servers are the same for you, although there is no server issues atm on the downdetectors, that would point me towards your machine setup or hardware.

For some reason I always get recommended to the Belgium servers, despite London being a lower ping and geographically closer, so I wouldn't worry about that.

Gaphics may have a bit to do with it if they are slowing your cpu down, and you aren't utilising the gpu.

PS did you defragment your HD (not SD) after clearing the space. Windows has one installed already.

Pps 😃 is there anything else using your network? Might be worth checking if its only your machine, what your machine is using is the same as what your isp is clocking ip.
