Hey Krampus! Great job finding that bug! I'm curious whether unplugging my USB mouse could also help with the crazy in-game frame drop/stuttering. I've tried dozens of solutions and none of them have worked so far.
I played Apex from the very first days it launched without any issues whatsoever. And then, a couple of months ago, the crazy frame drop started making the game totally unplayable.
@Sudtifo what you describe seems to be something entirely else. The freezing in this thread is about the game freezing completely, so that you can only close the game through killing it with task manager.
When you say frame drops, do you mean the FPS counter actually drops, or is the FPS counter stable but the game feels stuttering? Because in this case I had the same issue and I just now got it solved with the help of @Sick1Click here: https://answers.ea.com/t5/Technical-Issues/High-fps-but-not-smooth-Laggy-stutter/m-p/9252545/highlight/true#M77210

FPS counter actually drops. I'm able to get 3 to 5 minutes of impeccable play before it kicks in though. And when it does I get it every 15 seconds or so. Tried setting graphics to low, tried reinstalling the game, repairing it, deleting Easy Anti-Cheat, reinstalling Windows, and a bunch of other methods I found online. I'll give RTSS a go when I have some free time. Maybe it can fix it for me too. I love the game, and not being able to play it due to this is soooo frustrating.

@Sudtifo what you describe sounds more like your GPU overheating. It takes a few minutes of very high load on the GPU to reach max. temp, like in the main menu my GPU cools down to 60 °C and then in game will climb to 80°C within 3-4 minutes. May want to check your temps if you haven't. Also you should definitely set up RTSS and MSI Afterburner according to the guides. You can configure it to show a lot of GPU stats that may help you debug the issue, like GPU temp/load, GPU memory usage etc.

@xewarrior So, I just tried the RTSS thingy... I got two full games with zero frame drops. It was superb. But, as it turns out, I got my hopes up for nothing. The third game they started showing up again. My frames drop from my average 60 all the way to 4-5. And the more I play, the more frequent these frame drops are. I also get the Prediction error symbol in the right corner when they occur.
I really don't know what else to do. I have a 900MB Internet connection and play the game on a laptop with GTX 1070. - 6 years ago
@Sudtifo this really sounds like a thermal issue to me, where the GPU and/or CPU runs too hot and then start to throttle as to not overheat. Especially laptops usually don't have that good cooling. If it's an older laptop you might want to open and check if dust is clogging up the cooling system. Regardless you should definitely check the temps of your GPU and CPU when the issue occurs.
