Re: I lost my entire PS4 account due to cross progression

Hey @lanaswrld,

This sounds as though you had unlinked your PSN account from its original EA account, and recently linked it to the EA account that had your Steam profile linked.

Progress is stored on the EA account, not individual platforms. When you unlinked your PSN account, that progress was left behind on the EA account.

Progress cannot be merged between two separate EA accounts, so if you're trying to restore your PS4 progress, you would need to re-link that to the original EA account.

Please feel free to check out our FAQ for some additional details on this specific situation: A Quick Guide to Apex Legends Cross Progression - Answer HQ (ea.com)

If you're needing any assistance re-linking the account, you will need to contact support directly.

    Hey @NerveRSA,

From what I can see here, both your Xbox and PSN accounts were previously linked to a different EA account before being linked to the current one a few months back.

Because of this, none of the content on them previously would be transferred. You would need to re-link those to the original EA account(s) to try recovering any progress.

  • @EA_Mako but this is my original accounts?
all the usernames are the same and have been for a while
  • Hello
I only have one EA account. I was playing on xbox in 2020 but since 2022 I play on PC. I linked my accounts to get some skins. The problem is that I've lost all my PC progress. How can I rollback and recover my PC progress? I've already unlinked my xbox account from my EA account, but when I launch Apex with Steam on PC, I get the xbox progress.

    Hi @NerveRSA,

I can see the Xbox and PlayStation accounts were linked to the account you're posting with back in August.

Are there any other emails you may have used in the past?
  • @EA_Mako so the only emails i have changed are specifically my PSN account but that was on Sony's side. i did this so that everything falls under the same email but non of the changes were linked or in connection with EA. that was all sony

    @NerveRSA

I can see that the Xbox and PSN accounts linked to the EA account you're posting with were originally linked to a different EA account in the past.

You'll need to locate that account and re-link your consoles there if you're wanting to try recovering that progress.

If you don't recall which one that may be or no longer have access, you'll need to get in touch with support directly so they can help get these linked to the original account that has your progress.

If you create a new case here and select Game Support > The EA app > I want to update my EA Account information, you should be able to get in touch with the support team so they can take a look.
  • I actually have access to the initial account that it was linked to and I had redownloaded apex on EA just to make sure it would work. Upon logging on, the initial account also doesn’t seem to have all my cosmetics and levels. I’m quite stumped on what to do from this point on. I truly feel like my account has just been lost.

  • Hello, i have the exact same problem but ive never unlinked my account, and if that did happen, i dont know which ea account it is as i only have one. can you help me??

    Hey @DonkeyTheGod,

It looks like for this account, Apex was launched on PS4 for the first time at the end of last year. It looks like Xbox and Steam accounts were unlinked at the same time.

If you had played before that, your PS4 account would have been linked to a different EA Account.

At that point, it would be best to try checking any other emails or accounts you may have used in the past. If you're not sure or no longer have access to an account, you'll want to contact support directly so they can try to help track it down with any other details you may remember.

  • I did the thing where I had to link my Xbox account back to my original EA account to get my cosmetics back, but nothing changed and it only made things worse. Now I have the chat support people saying that all of my progress is gone and can't be restored just because I tried to follow the instructions of another support agent.

    @NotShakey

Any time you unlink an account, it disrupts the link and can permanently damage your progress. If you relink there's a possibility that will be restored, but it's not a guarantee.

The only way to avoid running into this is to not unlink in the first place which remains our recommendation in the help article and the reason we provide a warning when going through the unlinking process.

Unfortunately if you've re-linked to the original account and still don't have that access, there wouldn't be any other steps available to try.

    Unlinking risks for Apex players

If you unlink a platform account that you use to play Apex Legends, you might have issues with Battle Pass leveling, item unlocks, and other errors.

Instead of unlinking and relinking a platform account you play Apex on, we recommend starting fresh on a new account.

When you unlink a platform account from your EA Account, you can link it to another EA Account, but your in-game progress won’t transfer over.

That means you’ll permanently lose access to:

    • games and game progress
    • DLC, expansions, and anything extra you have for your game
    • memberships and subscriptions
    • in-game purchases.

If you unlink your platform account and link it back to your original EA Account, you may be able to get your stuff back if you still can access the account.

  • @EA_Mako then what about all of the money I spend to get all of the cosmetics I got? Is there anyway to get a refund?

  • I checked the refund page and those options only pertain to game refunds not individual or a bundle of individual refunds made over years. The chat support people said that I would have to contact Xbox. I did that and they don't do those type of refunds either. So what now? I feel that I should be granted a refund for such a broken cross progression system.
