RTX 2080s struggle hitting constant170 FPS -

Hi Guys,

i hope to get some advice here about low frames on Apex.

My setup:

Ryzen 5 2600x

16 GB of DDR4 RAM

RTX 2080 super

on a 240hz 1080p monitor.

nothing is overclocked except the CPU is on game Boost mode.

So my Problem is the following: I upgraded from a RTX 2060 to a RTX2080 super and was stoked to reach stable 180 FPS on Apex. But this is not the case now. I struggle to get even constant 150 fps. it heavily varies between 100 - 180 all of the time and no matter if in a building or in open land (currently on an 180 origin cap, tried rtss and nvidia cap- no difference).

I tried uping fps with video config file adjustments and every guide there is on youtube.

Nothing seems to work to get a stable frame rate.

Tried to flash ram cache and activated a standby cleaner that flashes the cache frequently. This also didnt help.

Important to say that i tried pretty much all ingame settings. but i usually play on everything low and 1080p on native with a 240hz monitor

Things i tried also:

Clean Boot

disable boost mode on CPU

installed no drivers 2 times (used DDU in safe mode)

Repaired the game

updated windows

tried swapping graphics card to 2070 super no difference ( floating between 100 - 180 heavily)  now i know that in different areas you encounter frame drops but i dont even reach a caped frame rate. it stays on 180 maybe a second then down to 130 to 120 to 140 and every half a second it varies heavily. On KC and WE it doesnt make a difference.

I am out of things to try and frustrated.

Thanks Guys!!

  • Hi @tone-luca,

maybe something is wrong with your RAM. Do u use D.O.C.P. in BIOS? If no, enable it please. This will set your RAM to the optimal speed/timings/voltage. By the way, how fast is your RAM? In some cases (special with a 3900x), you'll get more fps with smt off.

    Greetings 🐱

    Hi,

    thanks for your reply!

So im using 3000 MHz Ram. I can choose between two xmp profiles :

    1.) 2800Mhz 16-20-20-38

    2.) 2933MHz 16-20-20-38

i have it set to the second Profile showing me 2933MHz DDR Speed.
