Stretch res not working

Hello I’m here to ask about stretch resolutions. I was resetting my apex when suddenly once I opened it I got black bars even though I have the correct launch options to prevent them. It’s confusing me on why these launch options aren’t working and I’m getting black bars. I don’t get black bars when running 1440x1080 but when I try 1024x1152 it gives me black bars. Beforehand it worked perfectly fine I don’t know what happened I need help.

I already checked my videocfg and changed my GPU display mode still didn’t work so I’m not stuck

    Hi KeKeFwMe,

Sorry to hear you're running into issues with black bars appearing. I understand how confusing it is when a custom setup that used to work suddenly stops, and I can see you've already tried some advanced steps like checking launch options and your videoconfig file.

The issue you're describing, getting black bars when you didn't before, is almost always related to your GPU driver settings, not the game itself.

Please check the following on your PC:

    1. GPU Scaling Settings (Most likely cause)
    • For NVIDIA cards: Open the NVIDIA Control Panel > Go to Display > Adjust desktop size and position. Under the "Scaling" tab, make sure scaling mode is set to "Full-screen" and the "Perform scaling on" dropdown is set to "GPU".
    • For AMD cards: Open AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition > Go to the Gaming tab > Display. Find the "Scaling Mode" option and ensure it is set to "Full Panel" or "Full Screen".
    1. High DPI Override Settings
    • Navigate to your Apex Legends installation folder, right-click on r5apex.exe, and go to Properties.
    • Under the Compatibility tab, click "Change high DPI settings" and experiment with checking the "Override high DPI scaling behavior" box.
    1. Videoconfig File Read-Only
    • Just to be sure, after you have saved your custom resolution in your videocfg.cfg file, right-click the file, go to Properties, and make sure the "Read-only" box is checked.

Often, a driver or Windows update can reset these scaling settings back to their default. Hopefully, re-configuring them will get things working for you again.
