I wish I could find something with similar pace and play style in the meantime. Tried out hyper scape... but felt sterile and kind of dead. Valorant was cool and seems to have a solid community (gameplay is more like CS than apex), but you get stuck in long running games with these Diamond level players and its just a painful slog of one tap HS's till the match ends. Warzone has such a reputation for cheating I don't even want to go there...I feel like apex is ripe for disruption (they keep messing with it, eventually it will be beyond repair either technologically or gameplay wise) but for now it seems like its the only game in town with the pace/play that I like.

Likewise,I've worked my way through a fair amount of shooters & struggle to see a shooter that rivals Apex (or at least an Apex game that isn't affected with bug/performance issues).I tried Hyper-Scape several times & it just feels very buggy, not a very smooth game to play & yes some of special powers are pretty cool but the weapons just feel lacklustre.Fortnite feels like a very stale game merely being propped up the skins/characters they offer,it used to be a fun game to play but last few seasons it feels pretty awful game to play now.The game just feels like it is loaded with bots because it doesn't have the player base it had.(& players drop off at an alarming rate during the game).Hunt Showdown is pretty good but is a duo based game & is a real struggle played as a solo.Rogue Company isn't too bad but feels underwhelming (particularly the characters) compared to Apex.I loved the first Overwatch game & personally feel the second game can't come out soon enough.I've never played Valorant but feel kind of put off by it whenever I've seen it being played on GINXeSportstv(channel 433 on Sky).

Agree on all points.. gonna take your list and play through/ try out the ones you've mentioned I haven't already. Agree 100% on Fortnite.. I used to love that game until it went over what I like to call 'The Stupid Event Horizon' after which point it was more about selling skins/ promotions than actual game play. I feel like Respawn is slowly inching toward it as well with some of the latest stuff... once we see a pathfinder skin inside a pinata I'll know.. next stop:black hole.

Forgot to mention if you're a PS Plus subscriber COD Black Ops 4 is free to download this month.I haven't had the chance to play it yet (I was put off by the lack of single player mode when it first came out).My friends tell me there a a few good multiplayer modes with zombies & death matches etc & although it doesn't have the player base it used being on PS Plus will probably boost the numbers back up a bit.

Tried to play a few games of Apex round a friends house before watching the England match & am struggling to work out what has been done to fix the servers because from what I played there were lag-spikes galore throughout the games I played. Not only that but even the ping was relatively low at times hit-box registration/hit damage seemed completely off where it felt I was literally shooting through people not at them. Also I thought that a patch was released a few weeks ago(or so it mentioned on Trello.com) that eliminated player shortages in Duos/Trios on the team fill option.Of the four games I played in Trios two of them I was put on my own (there were 58 players in one of those matches).I did advise my friend to delete the game for the time being as it doesn't seem as though any lasting/permanent server fixes are happening anytime soon.

It's funny how a lot of people feel so alike.
I was pretty interested in Valorant and got a key for the closed beta, but ended looking at one of their Twitch teasing and was like "a bad Counterstrike with powers" (I did not know Overwatch at the time).
Rogue company pretty much hyped me with their trailers, but it ended being overwhelming, it felt like an average CS with powers, but good ideas and not so much interest to use this since finally mostly only aim count... It also felt clumsy, not easily accessed and dull in action.
Overwatch has more personality and impact, but now that I know Apex, I think it is quite superior on the movement/gameplay side.
Hyperscape I did not try but it was said to me it was "generic".
There's also the Cycle?
But we gotta hope Respawn get it right after all...- 4 years ago@IMightKickAss I've my fingers crossed as well Respawn can sort out the gaming issues for the start of Season 10 because I've no doubt a lot will be riding on it.
I feel two of the key aspects of retaining interest in many of these multiplayer games is in the matchmaking level of these games & how quickly a game can allow you to adapt & develop in the game. From what I here about Valorant is that it they already have a core of high level players & for newbie players they can often be thrown in the deep end & pitted against them giving those new players very little option other than picking up the game quickly or quit the game.Likewise with Apex & it's problematic matchmaking levels that has seen quite a few of my friends quit the game through constant unbalaced matchmaking.I've always considered a seasoned Apex player (I have been playing the game since season 1) a decent player with a decent kill record with my two main characters Pathfinder (2132 kills) & Revenant (2054 kills) I'm certainly not at Pro or Predator levelsl but my games tend to be mainly filled by Predator teams & players with over 20k kills. When I first got my nephew into playing Apex on his PS5 within a first few games he found himself playing against enemies with over 5k kills & I'd ask where is the fairness in that or even an incentive to keep playing the game.Trying to balance out the matchmaking in games like Apex maybe a very complex issue that very little progress (if any) has been made but one possible solution I previously mentioned would be to have Duo/Trio's mode for solo players only & a separate Duo/Trio's mode for teams only.- 4 years ago
