what is the meaning of preparing

updating aped to season 9 but its now telling me preparing is it downloading if it does it will be a problem becuz its written that it is 51 gb and i have limited gb per month so is it downloading o...

    Is this for Apex??

    But traditionally, preparing means your Origin app, is doing background stuff to get ready to download the files.  Generally speaking, you get preparing, downloading and then Finalizing.  There MAY be some internet usage during preparing as it communicates with the server to prepare the download but no it isn't actually downloading the files.
