I updated on Origin, sat in lobby for a minute and both monitors (even the one that wasn't being used) went full black, locked up wouldn't allow me to task manager or anything, had to hard reset my PC.. downloading now again on Steam to see if it works on steam this time.. it's unreal man.. like I get that developing games is hard work but I've never dealt with a fraction of this many issues on any other PC game.. at all.. like I could probably download Diablo 2 and still have better performance with current gen hardware than I do on this game. Imagine if Blizzard released an update to Overwatch that just randomly bricked people's machines every other match - or didn't allow you access to your own account in the first place.. I know it's a freemium game but so is Fortnite, so is Warzone, and neither have this kind of issue. Warzone has its own batch of issues (from no anti-cheat to crazy other bugs) but never like full crashes (for anyone I know at least). It's just wild to me that multiple years in there's still constant issues with every update, even an update to fix issues creates completely new issues..
Update: for elaboration too, I LOVE this game, and all I want to do is play it - and I'm gladly shoveling tons of cash into aesthetics, packs, I even bought the whole gibraltar event to get his heirloom, which now I feel honestly a bit silly for. But I just want to play the game, and it feels like with these crashes (which started for me when the game first launched even and I tolerated it then, and through multiple updates and revisions of my own hardware I still have it happen with nearly every update) that they don't even want us to play it.. like let me love you, Apex. Please have more beta testing for updates.. please invest more into compatibility testing.. please don't offer me options that require me to run in admin, clear my dns, and do all sorts of bizzare stuff to run your game when nobody else in the industry does.. just raise your level of output to at the bare minimum have a stable consistent game - even if you're not going to invest in better servers, at least allow me to connect to the servers you have consistently without crashes and failures.
Second Update: Steam finished downloading, after loading this first on Origin with the new update and logging in, and re-installing on Steam I was able to log in and play on steam just fine. It seems this specific issue is fixed for me at least. I recommend anyone who is trying to fix this to make sure you've logged back in on origin, opened game and gotten full in (even load the firing range for good measure) then close the game, reinstall it on Steam and try to log in through steam. It seems to work.
