Xbox Controller left Joystick Skips on menu/home/settings screens

On the menu screens in Apex (home screen, settings screen, also when I'm looting other people's death boxes) my xbox one controller left joystick skips. Like the joystick can't be controlled accurately in any of the screens described previously. In the game, both joysticks work perfectly and without skipping. It's literally only on the menu and home screens. Don't know how to fix it. It would be okay if it didn't happen on the loot box screens or when I'm trying to select items to use/drop in my backpack but that makes the game nearly unplayable because I have to spend like 30 seconds trying to land the cursor on the right item in my bag.
