None of those work. I've tried literally everything, different controllers, headsets, updating, rolling them back etc.
If im in Apex and send a message to a friend on my friend list, i see the wav form but cant hear anything... if i leave game chat while Apex is still open and move to party chat, I can then hear the message I just recorded just fine.
Basically whatever Apex is doing when I'm in "game chat" or the game is running, it shuts my headsets audio off so I cant hear anything. Once I go back to party chat everything is perfectly fine. Mic audio is up, everything is fine on my end.
this has been 3 months now.
While we have had general assertions that TS steps have been taken, I just want to clarify that checking for NAT issues is something not to be skipped over.
Past this wonder on some of the Xbox settings, can I check you've reset the audio settigns, you'll find the option in a menu at Settings > General > Volume & audio output.
I also wonder if setting up your audio again will help, and/or what your chat mixer settings are. I also wonder if audio is set to come out of headset, speakers, or both.
Also I wonder, it's a bit of a long shot, but if you have access to a friend's system, can you play a match on that -or even just try opening the message like in your test- and see if you still get the same issues.

It is worth noting that this bug has been resolved as part of the Season 14 patch, which contained improvements and fixes to VoIP for Xbox users.
