20 Year Battlefield Anniversary. Where do you rate 2042 in the series?
So for me I put it among my least favourite releases in the series.
Which means I put it alongside BF2, BC1 and BC2.
Not a bad game but no where near my favourites in the series.

I wouldn’t put it last.
I just wouldn’t put it on the list at all.
Hell even Hardline was a good execution of a divergent game style deserving of the BF name.With server browser and squad community aspects introduced , bf2042 it might come top (even with specialists), but as it is, with its identity crisis. Nah, wouldn’t even recommend it.

On top for me is BF2, good ol times playing leagues etc. My choices upon experience.

Should they make a remake of BF3, I am ready to pay 1000 bux
Difficult to impossible for me to compare 2042 to the previous iterations I've played before it because of a couple reasons:
- I play 2042 very differently (PvE) than BF3 & BF4 (only PvP)
- BF1942, BF2, BF2142 I played PvE but they are so old and long in the tooth in so many ways that you really cannot compare them anyway
I've enjoyed the PvE gameplay of 2042 and I have more than 300 hours into it so far ...while I have complaints about the PvE weapon & vehicle balancing, lack of good squad management, and the lack of full progression features in PvE bot matches I still would choose to play this over BF2 and 2142 for sure. Can't say if I prefer it over BF3 & 4 because I never had the chance to play those PvE.

I've played most of them. They hit the nail on the head with BF4, should have made a killing with 1, but they messed that up. 5 was ok. then just dropped the ball with this

And on that note I’m gonna place the masterpiece that is BF3 on the summit of Everest and place 2042 on the sea floor of the Mariana Trench.
2042’s just too FUBAR and the live service has been a way below acceptable standard considering - “all hands were supposedly on deck // the beta was old build // the games way ahead of schedule // we can hotfix bugs on the fly // there’s no campaign so we’ve poured all our resources into multiplayer // and a love letter to the fans”
Don't be sad, this is just how it works out sometimes :D

I seem to be one of the few that actually liked Hardline? But maybe it was just the team that I found there, having fun together...
Most of the BF games were the best in their own time, so I would rank BF2, BFBC2, BF3 and BF4 together at the same position at the top.
BF2142 and Hardline slightly below that.
BF1 had the greatest and most consistent atmosphere, and the gaming mechanics were great.
BFV was already a letdown, with great potential but too much little annoyances and defects, and unfinished of course.
Heroes was fun for 15 minutes per session, but not more.
300 levels further down you will find BF2042, and I don't even know if it belongs on a Battlefield list.
