Hello everyone!First post here. I’m happy to see a modern take coming back to the BF series. Me and three other friends play BF V on PlayStation. Two of us are on PS4s and the other two on PS5. My question is - can we play together (by PS5 players joining the PS4 players) in BF 2042?I am on PS5 but I don’t really mind playing on a smaller map as long as I’m playing with my squad. This is a deal breaker for me to buy the game.thank youD

@da_dingBAT You can play together if you buy as PS5 User the PS5 Battlefield 2042 Gold or Ultimate Edition because it includes the "Cross-Gen Bundle" then you have access to your Battlefield 2042 PS4 version. So the awnser is yes, you can play with your friends when you have installed the "PS4" Version of Battlefield 2042 on your PS5.If you just buy the "PS5" Standard Edition of Battlefield 2042 you can't play with "PS4" User.

This is based on an educated guess - please wait for an official response by EAThere won't be native PS5 vs PS4 cross-play (at least at launch, you never know what might happen in the future).That said, you should be able to play PS4 users on your PS5 but you will need to be playing the PS4 version of the game on your system (one of the editions has a 'cross-gen bundle' with both versions)On PS5 you can press the options button on the game tile to select which version you want to play.

Tbh, I can't believe that they're not having the option to play cross gen.I get that ps4s would struggle with the larger server population BUT what's the issue with ps5s dropping down to smaller server numbers?Also this now offers a dilemma for me personally as most of the people I play with are on ps4. Had to put on hold selling my PS4 now, suppose it saves me a bit of £.One question though. I buy the ps4 gold addition, can I pop that in my Ps5 and play 128 servers?

In other words, cross-play will be available only between past-gen consoles and between current gen consoles. So, if you're on PS5, you won't be able to play with players that are on PS4.

@da_dingBAT As others say, I understand it's a 'no'. Because the generational difference is too big between the consoles.

@Prep768 I wonder that too, indeed does it matter whether we buy it for 4 or 5 or do we need 2 copies? (not doing that!)

@Trokey66 yes you need two copies because the PS4 and PS5 are two different versions even that EA is claiming it will only affect "Playernumbers" and "Mapsizes". You can view like something back in 2013 when Battlefield 4 got released, EA was also Releasing a PS3 version and a PS4 version. PS3 version had also lower Playercounts and if I remember correctly changed maps.
