Yet the franchise is on its brink with 2042 compared to the glory days of BF3-BF1.
I am not sure where you draw the data that people believe that Breakthrough in Bf2042 is considered the best experience in the franchise.
If you have them available, please send them over because otherwise we are just pitting our opposing subjective opinions against each other.
Operations in BF1 and Breakthrough in BFV charmed me because they concentrated all the action of Conquest in a smaller area at a time instead of doing a merry go around a large map capping the next base and losing the one behind. BF2042 has now reduced Breakthrough to almost a Rush without M-coms, if I want to play Rush, I will pick Rush
Getting close to a vehicle has been easier than ever. There is a reason why people used to strap the C4 on a jeep instead of walking to it on foot, there was a lot more time for the crew to react.
As about rockets... we know what happens to even the best played tank if enough people use Liz, especially after the APS sentinel nerf.
It is fine if the vehicles are weaker so that we do not have some dude and his crew carrying the entire team (that is boring for both sides). But then their weakness needs to be compensated by how many of them there can be in a map.
The number of meaningful vehicles available on the 2042 feel fewer than ever, even when they have doubled the player count.
You talk about the risk of being in a vehicle but you forget that there needs to be a reward. The reward has diminished so much that few people consider it is worth taking the risk and instead go on foot.
PS: it is worth pointing out that they made things less unreasonable in S7 with making the Anti tank firepower more concentrated on the engineers and nerfing MacSpiderman. But things have been horrible for most of the life cycle of this game.
Also, yeah the tears of vehicle players are sweet. But they are sweet because one has overcome a dangerous opponent who has been a pain in the rear.
